Bottom line, GREAT teacher knows the subject amazingly well, but will make you work and is a big conservative. I would consider myself a moderate and loved the class, but I have known liberal kids who couldn't stand him. I would highly recommend him if you have a interest in the subject and aren't an over-zealous liberal.

Great Guy, easy tests. Cancels class a lot. DO THE READINGS. I got an A on both the Midterm and Final, but ended up with a C in the class thanks to poor quiz performance!!!

AWEFUL. HUGE REPUBLICAN. If you are not a republican - AVOID. The man says he brings in diverse speakers - but it's really just all REPUBLICAN. An independent mind seems necessary to teach this subject. His thoughts on Catholic social teachings are def. SCEWED. BAD NEWS. BAD GRADE. AVOID.

Great guy, great class. This is the class to take if you are even considering a career in Poli. Sci. Fr. Putka has the ability to inspire you to be more and succeed. With that said, he does have draw-backs. It is obvious that he prefers boys to girls. But If you keep up in the work and attend class it is impossible to fail.

once u stop staring at his flat top, its a rather interesting class. he is very funny and engages the students in disscussion. There are about 2 quizes every week, mainly on key terms from the chapter. you should do well as long as you take the hour to read the chapter b4 the class. you have to write a 20 pg paper, but if u do all 20 its an A++

Best teacher that I have ever had, I loved going to his class, you will learn so much, and he is a great guy and is funny. It is a fair amount of work but it is worth it. The 20 page term paper was the only bad thing about his class. If you have the chance take his class.

One of the greatest teachers i've ever had. love to joke around with the students. Knows everything about the subjects. get quized on every chapter, not hard at all. has only one paper, 20 pages, not too hard to write. mid-term is only difficult thing, KNOW THE CASES!

Phenomenal teacher. My most enjoyable class so far. If you love politics you will really like this class. The 20 page paper really isint that bad if you put effort into it he will give you a high grade. Funny and as moderate as possible for someone with conservative political views. I definitely recommend him.

Comment:

Father Putka is one of the most intelligent and engaging men I have ever me in my life. He is one of the few professors I have taken who actually care about the knowledge they instill in their students. Yes, he's hardcore Conservative, yes he has friends in Congress, but all of this only adds to the understanding of Legislative Politics.Take him!
