She is a great person. However she does give LOTS of homework. There is a LOT of reading in this class, too. Prepare for presentations. Also, you will need to watch movies for homework. Even though you have a week to do everything she assigns, it's still a lot. There is a lot of reading in Spanish. In class, she will expect you to participate.

Professor Serra is amazing. If you participate a lot and show enthusiasm for the subject then youll get a good grade. She has fun extra credit opportunities such as going to Zumba or Spanish club activities. If you have taken Spanish in high school then the class is definitely easier. If you have to take SPN 102 take it with her!!!

This class is certainly not a walk in the park. However, she will push you to your limit, in a good way. I was very overwhelmed at the start of the class but after a few classes it was much easier. She gives great advice and is an amazing professor!

She's an amazing teacher. Doesn't give too much homework, and class in interesting. I had no tests only presentations and one long essay. She's one of the best professors at Salem State.

At first it was very overwhelming, but she does a very good job of making sure you understand the material. She's a fan of icebreaker games (Getting up and talking to others), and for the most part makes this a very interesting class. Be prepared to speak Spanish A LOT. Make sure to do your homework, if you don't she gets upset. Would recommend!

I took several upper level classes with Fatima. There is a ton of work, reading, writing and ALWAYS a final presentation. It's scary and overwhelming at first, but it is SO WORTH IT! She pushes her students to learn as much as they can. If you are passionate about Spanish, take her classes!

I took Fatima for SPN202, SPN351, and SPN402. If you're a good student who puts in the effort, she definitely takes notice. Wonderful woman, but very tough teacher and a lot of work. If you want to learn a LOT, take her class. But don't take her if you want an easy A.

She is a nice lady, but a horrible teacher. She expects that you already know everything and don't explain things. If you love Spain and want to learn all about Spain (especially the TH) then take her. She gives massive amounts of work though. If you are taking other hard classes I would not recommend her.

Very helpful to her students who show effort. Explains the concepts very clearly and have used her to explain concepts that other Spanish teachers were not able to articulate. Learned more from her than any other teacher ever. Her only fault is her impatience when she expects you to know something, and if you ask her too much at once.

Very unrealistic expectations regarding volume of written work. She told us what kind of response and length (2 pages) and then complained about having to read that much work! One week she told us not to give her the homework we completed because she had too much to catch up on!

She is a nice woman and very helpful if you show initiative. The tests are tough, but she offers extra credit with every exam (nothing very difficult). She wants her students to be successful and she's willing to go the extra mile. Only problem is that she limits English speaking during class even if it would be easier to get it in English.

She's a good teacher and if you like a challenge, take her spanish classes. Don't expect to be babied along--you'll have to ask her if you have a problem. The class pretty heavy on the written work, but I think I learned a lot and understood concepts I'd already learned better after her class.

It's not easy classwork. Can't tell if it's the new book or not but with vocabulary and the work expected it seems hard. Class can be boring, spending hours in the language lab is boring. Not exactly a great time.
