he was great, eccentric and extremely knowledgeable. i was already a musician so it was super easy for me, but i forgot to practice the hannon fingerings and he taught it to me during the quiz and still gave me a good grade on my piano quiz.

I don't even know why this class exists other than to give people an easy class to take. But I'm glad it did. I took it my very last semester, when I had virtually all my major requirements out of the way and only needed the credits to graduate. I took it pass/fail, so I didn't really try that hard. Otherwise I don't think an A is out of reach.

When i first met him I couldn't stand him, but after I gave him a chance and got to know him I really started to like him. Sure he's crazy and eccentric, but he really knows his music and has a true love for it, If you give him a chance and look past his ridiculous scooter riding personality, you can really enjoy class and learn a lot from him.

Okay, some people hate him but that's probably just because they don't understand him. He's amazing and has played all over the world, but you can't expect him to reach everybody. He's human. If you go into his class with an open mind then you'll learn. Once he came into my theory class and just taught us about the blue note. So cool. He's good.

If you know nothing about piano, he's not the most helpful guy. Just because i am not comfortable with a piano does not mean you need to lecture me for ten minutes on how my brain isn't functioning. And its a little strange that he talks with his eyes closed half the time. Only take a course with him if you must.

If you have some kind of background in music then this class is going to be easy and you have to keep an open mind about him. Mr. Cockrell is one of a kind and he's a gentle man with a passion for music. Yea he's a little eccentric but that is what makes the class go from boring to entertaining and he grades ona curve because he understands that most of the students there are forced there for the extra credit. He's retiring this year so dont worry about having him but I am glad I have him before he retired.

seriously one of the worst professors I have ever met in my life. I can't understand how anyone likes him. He is very rude and seems very strange! Take the other person's advice and AVOID HIM!

He is completely nuts. He lectures like he'd conduct, with his eyes closed. Very smart, nice man, but jumps all over the place. Entertaining, if you have a slight musical background and need an Arts Gen Ed, go for it, but don't come in with no knowledge, you'll die.

He's very entertaingina and you can tell that he loves his job. I love this class... I look forward to going to it. Mr. Cockrell is awesome. Take this class if you need a mus/art requirement and you like piano music. He's an excellent pianist too!
