Great professor, person and mentor for life. Students with little desire for mental growth will not learn from his class. The world extends past western PA and Ocean City, MD. All of those students who think he is or was too hard, wait until you go to the real world and have a boss you don't like and he doesn't like you. Fr. Mark is a Great man!!

I'm an Anthro grad of three years ago, and I can still hear Fr. Mark's voice resounding in my head about this and that and everything. He is one of the best professors that I have ever had. He is very insightful, intelligent, and outspoken. He's got this awesome voice with an awesome accent even though he's from Belle Vernon, PA! LOVE HIM!

Not gonna lie the guy is pretty boring, especially if you have him for two semesters in the row (be prepared to hear the same lectures) All in all though if you take decent notes and learn the vocab in the book (even though you never use it in class) you should do fine. Prepare for your presentation, he will remember it when final grades are due!

I realize that he's intelligent. But, boasting about yourself is unnecessary. He's almost arrogant, narrow minded, belittles students and believes he can say anything-no matter how degrading-if he adds "well, I'm not here to be politically correct." Very depressing about the world and makes you think there's no hope left.

I am a SVC Graduate who majored in Anthropology. Fr. Mark may seem to have an agenda as well as an outdated style. However without his input as well as guidance I would not know what I know today about the Middle Eastern world. Through Anthropolgy and understanding diversity I would not have the amazing career I have today. Thanks Fr. Mark

I had Fr. Mark for several classes. He knows what he is talking about, and expects a reasonable effort from his students. He teaches all of his classes the exact same way, and make sure that your projects are well thought out and researched, because he will ask lots of questions. If you pay attention, and do what he asks, then you shouldn't have

Fr. Mark is awesome. DO NOT argue with him unless you can challenge a genius. He does have four PhD's, and is very conservative. Extremely insightful, intelligent, and enlightening. However, he does give long lectures and actually expects you to think

He's very knowledgeable and I respect that. But...be prepared for long lectures about how corrupt and horrible the world is. Not that I don't agree with him, to an extent, but after listening to him you'd think there was no hope for humanity. Also thinks that Anthropology is the most important subject taught at SVC. Some days are better than others but I've never been so depressed after listening to a lecture.

Fr. Mark is a very good professor, and he gets a bad rap because he actually expects something from his students. If he made you feel uncomfortable about something he lectured about, then that means you had to think about it. Word of advice for those taking his classes: Do not argue with the man about anything unless you are well prepared, and fully research your presentations, because he will challenge your points.

For all of you students who will end up in grad school, you'll learn that he teaches from a completely laughable and outdated perspective that caters to the reactionary Catholicism that this school is ****en with. Then again, that's what most students want, at least when I was there. If you get to grad school you'll know what I'm talking about.

I cannot wait to take more of Fr. Mark's classes. Honestly, his class is intimidating, but if you can pass a literacy test and aren't a stereotypical lazy American, you can definitely pull off a good grade. Enlightening lectures and good reads provide for a well rounded perspective. passionate man.

This is the best class by far that I have taken at this college and the best I will ever have taken. If my class schedule permits I would love to take another Fr. Mark class. His classes are so fun and you learn so much from his lectures that it only makes you feel good about yourself.

I have had this professor for a couple years now. His lectures are facinating, and enjoyable. The only downside is his exams, which, if you read the text and take notes are rather reasonable. He is an example of why Im taking out loans by the thousands to attend a private Catholic University.
