Comment:
Frank Gao is a phenomenal professor. He posts all of his lecture notes immediately after class. He gives practice exams before each test. This man knows differential equations better than I know myself. He is VERY forgiving on deadlines and due dates. The class is kind of tough, but nothing worse than any of the prerequisites for it. Solid dude.

This prof knows the topic inside and out, backward and forward. He has generous office hours if you have questions. Weekly homework assignments, weekly quizzes, and a few tests per semester. You're allowed a notesheet on the tests after the first one, so thats good. Hard subject, but the prof teaches as if he invented it.

Frank Gao is incredible. I mean probably the best math teacher I've ever had. He explains everything so clearly. That being said, the homework is very difficult and you'll have to do some learning on your own. He does that to make sure you understand the material, and you will. He curves the grades so the class isn't as hard as it seems.

Comment:
I definitely would NEVER take his class again. The lectures are unclear and the examples aren't helpful. The tests are tough and he says he will curve them but doesn't. He frequently gets behind in lectures and doesn't finish the lecture. I ended up having to teach myself the entire semester.

Frank Gao is a great guy. He is always positive and does his best to make all his lectures count (even if they can be kind of long). Analysis is innately a hard to understand, but Frank does his best to help students out. His tests and homework are extremely difficult, but that being said he knows that and is a very lenient grader.

Analysis is a tough class. I had trouble understanding the material, especially during the lectures. But, Frank Gao did his best to make it as clear and understandable as possible. He was great to ask questions. On multiple occasions, he sat down with me for close to an hour going over how to do every single problem on our homework individually.

Hands down the best professor I've had here at the U. of I. Probably the best professor here. Take his class if you can. Do the homework and go to class and there is no chance of failure... guaranteed to fully understand the topic(s).

He gets very excited about what he's teaching and tries to impress the material on the students in a very dynamic way. Pay very close attention and you'll do fine. Just make sure to do ALL the homework!
