Brilliant lecturer, but highly unapproachable, even for small talk with students.

Good teacher. Definately knows the material and enjoys teaching it. Does expect the student to read the material.

I HATED THIS TEACHER!! He does not help you understand the material at all. He rambles about everything and teaches nothing. I had to teach myself most of the material. When you go in for help he still doesn't make any sense. If you have a different oppinion then he does then it is wrong. I will never take another phil. class again because of him.

Sometimes it's hard to pay attention to him, he goes off on tangents. The only graded things we had were 2 papers so you have to do well on them or your grade is screwed. Some of the philosophers are incredibly confusing. Take only if you either like philosophy or have some background knowledge beforehand.

This is an Asain philosophies class. I love it. I think Bender is super into his material and he really enjoys this stuff. He is funny so much so that I'd almost classify him as hillarious. Definatly recomend this prof and his classes. He interacts and just makes it well to put it in a fun way Bright and shinny.

Comment:
I thought Bender did an excellent job of handling the material. He makes the class stay academic when a lot of people in it want to rant about their own religion vs. others'. I feel I learned a lot from him about the actual basis of most religions. Fairly hard grader, copious note-taking.

Speaks at a Doctoral level and expects students to understand. Gives 45 minute answers to a question and doesn't even answer the question, goes off on tangents.
