Endres is a HARD teacher, but it will help you in the long run. I learned a lot about news writing. Also, drills AP in your head. Not an easy class, but stick with it. It's worth your time.

Comment:
Endres knows a ton of stuff. But he doesn't do a good job teaching it. He expects you to know what he knows without any prior knowledge of the subject. He also assumes that since you're in a news writing class that you're going to be a reporter. That's simply not true. It seems like he teaches by talking down to his students.

I had him for Newswriting. Probably one of the worst class experiences I've had. Rude, condescending, not very helpful. His idea of criticizism is making you feel completely incompetent. Definitely has some superiority complex. Sure, he has a lot of experience and COULD teach you a lot, but he spends more time being sarcastic and obnoxious.

Comment:
Fred was the rudest professor I have ever had. He must have some sort of inferiority complex because he spoke so condescendingly to me everyday I was in his class. He spent more time discouraging his students than teaching them. When I think of Fred, the words "pathetic" and "failure" come to mind. By far the worst prof I have ever had.

Well despite the fact that I got screamed at for two hours for getting a "C" in Newswriting...he's a very funny guy and knowledgeable prof. Do not expect to get a good grade in this class, no matter how hard you try though...

Super hard class. He's definitely a smart ass, but I think he's pretty funny! Don't expect a good grade, but his drilling will help you learn more regardless of what grade you get.

"Grades don't matter. Learning matters. What did you learn?" This is one of Fred Endres' favorite quotes, and it shows. If you want a 4.0 GPA, don't take his class. If you want to learn good, quality journalism, you won't find a better mentor.

Dr. Endres is a great professor and you will work your ass off for him. However, when you're done, you'll be better, no matter what your specific major. If you can't take hard work, why did you ever go to college?

Dr. Endres is great. He definitely expects a lot out of his students, and he doesn't accept work that's just OK. But when you have a finished product after working with him, it's something you'll be very proud of.

I got an A. He didn't come to class much, which was fine with me. I liked the laid back approach to class. Get your work done and you get a grade that matches the work. Thought the load was a little heavy for the class though.
