Fontaine is the man. He operates at such a high frequency and basically forces you to lock on. He is crazy efficient- so you end up learning a lot more in a shorter period of time. Loud & entertaining.

I had him back in the 80s when he first started teaching (I think he actually was a grad student!). I liked him alot, he was funny in a geeky sort of way. He definitely knows his stuff, but I agree that he spoke pretty fast. Slow him down if you don't understand.

Only when you leave cooper do you realize just how easy fontaine's classes are. Sure he works you hard, but the exams are so similar to the hw (usually) that you can get a very high score without fully understanding the material.Lectures at a high level but expects much less from the students. Really competent-answers most emails within 5 minutes

Hey, don't feel bad if you are reading some of his bad reviews because you still have to take his classes! If you really like EE, you should like his classes because they are the cores. If you don't understand the materials thoroughly in each course, your grades will go progressively worse with 100% probability. Don't skip classes! Don't oversleep!

Lectures at an extremely high level: sometimes borders on incoherent, but you learn a lot whether you like it or not. Gives a ton of work, but incredibly generous with grades for the most part. do not buy the textbook. It is useless and will only confuse you (this applies to all required fontaine classes).

Excellent. One of the best professors at Cooper. Entertaining, comprehensive, though somewhat unclear the first time around. As long as you have a reasonable amount of interest in the class it's easy to get an A and you'll learn something too. The assignments and exams test simple mechanical proficiency.
