He is an amazing professor. If you aren't interested in Politics and American government, I wouldn't recommend him. However, if your a Poli Sci major he's amazing. He will keep your very interested and his experience is overwhelming. He talks from facts and experience, if you participate and engage, take very thorough notes and study for the tests.

He is such a sweet guy but he classes can put you to sleep. The class is only 3 tests and you're required to read a book on the government and write a book review which was really annoying. The tests are pretty difficult and unfortunately thats pretty much all your final grade is consisted of.

Great and an intelligent professor at MCC. The class was very interesting. As long as you have interest in politics and life and want to learn something new, this is the professor to take! He is very passionate about what he teaches and you will not regret it if you take him!!

Any bad comments are lazy and uninterested students. Political Science is not a dry course off the textbook only, it is an interactive course. He is not going off topic he is discussing text book topics as they relate to what happens in the world. Great, helpful, and thorough. Recommended

Prof. Hertrich was a good professor, but he can go off topic on occassion. His tests aren't that bad since you can choose your format and work on that. Take good notes for that class.

All of the people who had bad things to say about Prof Hertrich obviously didn't put in the time or effort in his class. The class is not easy, but if you pay attention to his lectures and read the text then you should have no problem passing this class. Prof Hertrich is extremely helpful and wants you to pass his class while learning something.

Professor Hertrich is a credit to Middlesex County College. Most students think that just because it is a county college that courses should be mind-numbingly easy but that is not the case with his classes. I not only had him for honors level American Political Thought but also State and Local government. Take him for a rewarding challenge!

Hes a bit of a nut, but fun to listen to. He is very open to questions and discussion. He wants to hear your views. There are some things he gets wrong in fact, but were on the test as he said it. The tests are quite easy with a choice of mixing multiple choice with essays or only one of the two types. I took him for two courses.

Best professor I have ever had. Helpful and caring. Wants students to succeed. He creates exams that allows you to pick and choose the items you answer. Really cares about what students say and wants you to succeed. He demands class participation, but does not criticize wrong answers, which makes most students more willing to participate. Take him!

This professor knows his stuff. His class is all lectures & I strongly advise you to try to copy down most of what he says. Attendance is mandatory. Three tests are all he asks for. On the tests there are 50 multiple choice and 4 essays & you get to CHOOSE a mixture of what you want. You HAVE to study and pay attention. You will fail if you don't.

He is a very good teacher. He absolutely loves political science and he makes the class very interesting. Definitely read your textbook, take and study notes, and watch the news (cnn, nytimes) for current world events which he quizzes you on. He doesn't play around with grades, what you get is what you get. But he's a great teacher.

I had Fred Hertrich a few years ago. He's a great guy. His tests are hard but I managed an A. I'm at Rutgers now. If you think his class is hard, you're not going to make it at RU. MCC was cake compared to RU. Prof. Hertrich is a great guy!

Hands down the most passionate prof. at MCC. Wow, if you can keep up with the work you would be hard pressed to find another class that you actually learn as much as with this class. It was an honor for me to be in this class with an amazing professor like this. Don't be afraid to take him, as long as your willing to do the work

I did not like this professor. He loves the sound of his own voice and will ramble relentlessly. His political science course lectures might as well be considered current events lectures?not a bad thing necessarily, but he often fails to tie the discussions back into a lesson format. They seem to exist simply because he likes talking about them.
