If you take his class it is more of a self taught. He does make you sign in. His lectures a very long and boring at times. He is basically going over what is in the book. I learned most of the material from his class at home from my book.

I was so nervous to take ECON. Everyone I knew said they took it 2x and barely passed. This was an easy class as long as you do the work. Its all test, quiz, and discussions are easy. The book is pricey, but it was worth the A.

I took ECON 2301 Online with professor Newbury and it was great. It was my first time taking an online course and he made it so easy to access. Book is required which is published by him so not expense and shows that he is knowledgeable in this subject. Take this professor you will not be disappointed.

Comment:

Newbury is a solid choice for ECON. His lectures are OK but get you through the online quizzes and the test with flying colors. You only have 4 tests, 12 online exams, and the rest of the points are points from attendance. Sometimes he studders and forgets what he is saying but otherwise a solid choice. Isn't a hard class, just take notes & read.

Took economics online with him. Had 12 ch quizzes, 5 tests including final exam, and 2 discussion boards. Quizzes and tests were easy and straight from the textbook. Discussion boards are harder. Tough grader and expects very thorough discussion posts. Replies to emails quickly if you have questions. Easy course, would definitely take again!

I definitely recommend this professor! He is extremely helpful! He allows you to retake up to 2 exams if you missed them! He responds to your emails immediately!! Took him for a summer course and got an A!

Well, he makes this class so simple. Everything is nice and clear. the quizzes and the test are easy and sometimes stupid. the questions from the quizzes reappear in the test. He provides you with many types of resources that are really helpful. I started loving economics after taking his class.

Pros: Pretty easy if you memorize the online quizzes because the majority of all the quizzes are on the tests. Newbury also lets you sleep and play on your laptop or whatever during his lectures. Cons: Newbury's lectures are long and boring. He also NEVER responds to his e-mails. And he sometimes posts quizzes at the last moment.

Class lectures are a joke. He just picks a few random topics to discuss from each unit then moves on to the next. The quizzes and exams probably cover 5% of lecture materials and 95% is from the textbook, which we don't even use in class but need for the quizzes and exams. If you're an economics major or interested in econ DO NOT take his class.

He tends to go off topic during his lectures but he tries to make them interesting. His grading criteria was confusing and he takes days to reply to emails. Overall it was an ok class just do the quizzes online and show up to class and you will pass.

Prof. Newbury was a good professor. I really enjoyed his class. I don't really enjoy economics but he made it interesting. Book is a MUST for this class. If you try in the class you will pass.

I chose this teacher because of the great reviews I had read, it seemed "okay" at the beginning.I had some issues in my personal life and was struggling a bit with class, I tried at LEAST 10 emails, 5 calls to his office and obviously leaving 5 voice mails. NEVER got a response from him. Its ridiculous he encourages communication but never gives it

Took Fred back in 2003. Just talking about him today and appreciating him in a new unit of time. Great instructor...gave his lectures like a prepared speech...very interesting. He made economics fun for me. Always attend class, listen carefully, take notes. I even recorded the lectures and would review them to study.
