Fred Smith has a great personality and it very knowledgeable in accounting. However, his classroom is a flipped classroom which for me was difficult to learn from. You watch his recorded lectures at home and then work on the homework in groups in class. I wouldn't take this class with him again only because of the flipped class aspect.

I took this class online over the summer. The lecture videos are good but sometimes you have to watch them again to get all the information. Good amount of homework but it helps you learn the material and some of the questions were on the tests. Goes well with FINAN 450 study if you don't understand accounting/finance. Buy the financial calculator.

Fred is a great guy but very dry sense of humor like most accountants so non-accounting people don't like him. Inverted classroom so you work with group on "homework" problems during class and watch the next periods lecture videos for homework. The material is not that difficult but study for tests if accounting does not come naturally to you.

Fred Smith is a great professor even though I didn't think so during the semester. I just took the final and I am pretty sure I failed or ended with a D in the class. It's not his fault I didn't apply myself or get help when I needed it. If you're not the type of person to put in the extra work take this class with someone else.

Fred Smith is a sarcastic, arrogant, "better than thou" teacher. He has an ego that won't quit, and makes his course EXTREMELY stringent when it comes to VERY specific details (like the paper size & pen use mentioned before, as well as WHERE to write your name on the paper). He doesn't set students up to succeed, or appear to care when they don't.

If I could go back, I would not take his class. I would take the class from someone else - and I got an A on every exam. He uses a flipped classroom rather than the lecture style of teaching. He is very critical of unimportant things - whether that is writing in pen on your HW or using notebook paper that isn't EXACTLY 8.5x11 in. Frustrating class!

This teacher is very tough. He likes to trick you up. He makes it seem very simple when going over his lectures and then his homework is very tough and hard to accomplish by going over your notes. His tests have hardly any questions so it takes nothing to bring your grade down. I would never recommend this teacher!!

I absolutely loved this class. Fred Smith is my favorite professor I've had at K-State so far. He genuinely cares about his students, but his class isn't just an easy A. There is quite a bit of homework, but it really wasn't bad. I learned so much in this class. It was also a very enjoyable class to be in. I would definitely recommend Fred Smith!

Fred uses a flipped classroom. This is great, easy note taking outside of class for homework, and in class you work with your group on some problems each day. So you get 3 other classmates and Fred to help you when you get confused. Go to class, he takes attendance. Fred knows his stuff, and the flipped classroom makes the class way easier.

This is one of the toughest professors I've had at K-State just because he doesn't do much teaching in class. If you're like me and are a visual learner and don't have a great "business" mind, I recommend not taking this class with Fred. If you do chose to take it... ASK ASK ASK QUESTIONS!! He is definitely willing to help those who work hard.

Fred is a good teacher. The only reason I do not like this class is that Fred does a flipped classroom. We watch the lectures outside of class and do the homework in class together, I can not learn like that. Other than that, this class is hard but if you study enough you can do fine.

Fred is possibly my favorite professor I have had at K-State. Normally, I dislike the "Inverted class" style, but Mr. Fred is living, breathing proof that it does work, and beautifully at that, if the professor actually tries. After taking this class, it will be painfully obvious who does it for the students, and who does it for themselves. 10/10.

If you just do your assigned work, you will absolutely love Fred. Fred is my favorite instructor. He has a great sense of humor, is very down to earth, and truly cares about his students. Yes, the tests are a little tough, but not if you study in advance. Make sure you go to class and do the assigned notes, otherwise your grade will suffer heavily.

Fred cares about his students, and genuinely wants to see them be successful. He is always willing to help students and has clear grading criteria. All of his lectures are online, meaning you have to spend 20-30 minutes a night watching them to be prepared for class the next day. Tests are tough, but manageable if you put in a lot of study hours.

Fred is awesome, I really liked his flipped classroom structure. No group projects in the usual sense, you work in the same groups in class everyday. I never read/bought the book, he has a course packet with everything you need.
