Overall, an enjoyable class, but STUDY HIS NOTES CAREFULLY as tests are rather specific and material can be confusing.

Overall, an enjoyable class and Professor Smith makes it fun. Don't really need the book, but STUDY HIS NOTES CAREFULLY, as the tests ask rather specific questions.

Great professor. All the quizzes/tests are based right off the notes which should be studied. Overall, it's a fairly easy class. His powerpoints include pictures that he took in Africa and he has a lot of stories. Good guy.

Interesting class. If you are not into science, find another one to take if you have him at his new school. He seems nice, but is rather rude if you ask questions. Has quite a temper, but tries to tame it. The language is tricky, so be prepared. Not hard if you study well, but not a piece of cake, either. I give him a lukewarm recommendation.

He is my favorite prof of all time! I love him and would take any class with him. He is leaving Loyola and I actually thought about transferring to be able to still be in his classes. He is a wonderful prof, he covers a lot of material in class so you should always go. His tests aren't really difficult at all if you study. He is great!

Really good professor. Very upfront about expectations. There are quizzes and 3 tests. You need to study, but don't need to kill yourself. He gives notes on the overhead, and if you know those you are golden. There is reading assigned, but unless he REALLY emphasizes that you need to read it, you don't.

Dr. Smtih is great! He is an amazing anthropologist and makes the class pretty interesting. However, do not under estimate studying for quizzes and exams. That is pretty mandatory, but definitely take his class!

Dr. Smith is a good professor and an all around good guy. He clearly presents all the information you need to succeed in his class (write down anything he puts up on the overhead or in powerpoint format-study just these notes and you will ace everything). He is enthusiastic about what he does and it shows in his teaching.

well, i thought he was a nice guy in the beginning of the year but changed my mind when he acted really mean when you ask questions. I mean don't get on his wrong side, he will say something to hurt your feelings. I had just asked a question before a test and he said something very rude. so be careful..

I underestimated the difficulty of this class. One of the few Bs I got after two semesters was from this class (got an A in ANTH 102,103 and 200-level classes with GPA of 3.7). You must not only know the notes but master them. Be able to compare *specifics* (more specific than you think) about different primates, for example. Calcagno!

Dr. Smith is a brilliant professor. The class is incredibly interesting, but also very easy. Only a few questions off the tests are from the book. Clear lectures and notes. Drops your lowest quiz grade. Always available for help outside class, but most people don't need it. If you go to class and take notes, should be an easy A. Plus, he's funny.

I think he's kinda weird, but he tries to be nice and cool. TAs are slightly annoying...I'd recommend studying for the quizzes and DEFINITELY do the extra credit because it will help your grade.

AMAZING PROFESSOR! He's southern and he tells jokes that keep things interesting. He has about 6 quizzes and he drops the lowest one; if you study it's easy, everything is straight forward and from the notes. I'm going to miss this class--TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! :-)

Very basic intro class. Strictly taking notes and then taking 6 quizzes and 3 tests. Multiple choice. Easy A if you make an effort to study 1/2 hr. for every quiz and 1-2 hrs. for every test.

Great teacher. Funny, easy class. Show up, take notes, and then study those notes for tests and quizzes. Also, when he says you need to read something from the textbook, do so, because it will show up on the test or quiz. Overall, had a good time and enjoyed the class.
