He is a pretty solid dude, definitely a great teacher to learn from. My only issue with him is that is super unprofessional in the way he talks and writes emails. Like he is professional in how he interacts with students, but he tries to act young and cool.

Whiting is in my top two English professors at UA. His class covered super interesting material and he actually got to know all of the students in our class. He was nice about deadlines and was very available for students. He does daily quizzes and journals instead of attendance. He took our class to get pizza one day. BEST PROFESSOR EVER!

Whiting is, in my experience, the greatest professor at UA. He is the most brilliant person I've encountered here, and he's an engaging, funny teacher. Definitely take his class. They require a lot of work, but you'll leave it way smarter than before. Also, very willing to work with you. He's a nice guy.

Had Fred for my BUI frosh seminar, Real down to earth, understands students, but tries to get the most out of them. Must read all the assigned texts, Paper topics not easy, but he is very willing to help you if you talk to him in advance.

Fred is a really cool guy. His discussions are interesting. Be ready to talk about what you have read (you actually have to read it). Quizzes are pretty straight forward. No tests, but 3 papers. Fun class if you like open-ended paper topics and discussion!

Professor Whiting is a super all-round guy. Real clear. Real helping. His also open to new ideas, which he should be. Not so easy though. I found his explanation of the Egyptian origin of most modern monstrosities hard to swallow. But he's yr pal.
