Karnilaw is one of the best prof. I have had at UNC. Yes, this class is hard but if you go to class, do the homework, and read the text book you should be okay. He is very helpful if you have ANY questions and is very dedicated in helping the students do well. He also lets you place out of the final if you are happy with your grade.

Peter is the best professor at UNC. Anyone who says he didn't help them or thought he was a bad professor is just upset that they didn't put in the time or effort to excel in his class. The material is difficult, no doubt. But if you work hard, and attend the open labs/study sessions (even on sunday) youll do great. He's dedicated and chem is fun!

This guy is just downright awesome, acts more like a student than a professor. Loved the time he blew up the pyrex "bowl" in front of the whole class, accidentally used too much Sodium in water :D. He's a cool guy, helps out, and grades awesomely.

Originally took Chem281 with Hyslop and didn't do so well. Retook it with Karnilaw and am not only doing a LOT better, I actually enjoy going to class and learning the material! Besides he's not too bad to look at either.

Took this last semester and he was the worst professor I've had at UNC. Did not make expectations clear, did not make assignments and due dates clear, and expected you to be able to do something before it was even went over. Try to avoid getting him.

Peter is an amazing teacher! He always makes sure he goes over the material enough times for the entire class to understand it, holds study sessions every week, and is normally pretty easy to track down if you have a question. He legitimately cares about how his students are doing in his class. Plus if you do really well you can skip the final!

Spent the majority of the class going over 1 simple lecture problem and flirting with the girls in the front row. Don't bother with this lecturer.

Great teacher, fair but his tests are a bear. If you learn anything with numbers or equations in it it will be 70% of the test. Also request in class tests, his take home tests are murder

If Chemistry were a language, I'd say this man speaks it and translates it flawlessly. I came in as a total chem idiot, and he had me understanding it within weeks. He doesn't give up if you still don't understand, and will work hard to help you. Great sense of humor, too! I just wish I had been able to take CHEM 281 from him :( Highly recommend!
