One of the BEST professors here. I have never liked history but this was one of my favorite classes. Super passionate guy, you can tell he genuinely loves history and teaching. Grade is driven by 3 lengthy free-response tests but they are not hard if you use the study guide and go to the review sessions. Doesn't use blackboard or any technology.

There are very few grades in the class and he takes forever to give them back. He also does not use blackboard so no one really knows their grade. The tests ask for a lot of information and are free response .

He only gives test every month or so and you have to know the dates and significance. His tests are essay based. He gives a study guide, but the tests have a lot of information to cover and remember. He doesn't enter the grades on blackboard until the end.

Suppe is extremely informative, knowledgable, and passionate about history. People tend to complain about his tests, but he doesn't grade very harshly. Listen in the lectures. If you decide not to go to class, look the stuff on the study sheet up online and make notecards. Study, study, study! Otherwise, his class is a breeze.

For a core class, it is very rough. I am NOT a history major nor have I ever enjoyed history. He is extremely passionate about history so kudos to him, but forreal if history is not your thing, stay away! I studied flash cards for three weeks and nearly bombed the first test.

Dr. Suppe is very passionate about his history! I took Irish History with him and he was very into it. He makes you want to pack your bags and fly to Ireland ASAP! He doesn't give out homework, but there is a midterm, final, 10 page paper for undergrad's, and tiny assignments that go along with your 10 page paper. Other than that, he's awesome!

His class has a total of around 5 assignments and 3 large (and very important) tests. His final is non-cumulative and the study guides are very clear about what will be on the test. However, his lecture is very boring. He drones on about subtopics that only sort of relate back to the reading. You really don't need to attend lecture to get an A.

Good professor. Definitely makes the lectures interesting & funny. There are 3 tests, a paper, & 3 short essays called historical news articles which are not difficult at all. His grading is very weird & it is difficult to know how you performed other than the letter grade you received. Hard to get an A but with minor effort could easily get C or B

I recommend Suppe's class to everyone. Suppe is the book. He teaches history like one big long story. If you pay attention and take notes you'll do great. Sit in the front- he doesn't use a mic. Read the syllabus and keep all the papers he hands out. Your whole grade is made up of 7 grades. Take notes using the test study guide once he hands it out

Should charge an entry fee for his lectures. Take profs like this before they disappear for good. Read and show up for class and you will get an A and be smarter after the class.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH SUPPE! It was near impossible to pass. It is completely lectures and the tests are EXTREMELY hard. If you are not good at history I do not recommend taking History 150 with Suppe. Also there are no study guides and he's a really really really hard grader. 100% advise you not to take this course with Suppe, trust me.

This man can make you fall asleep while lecturing about World War 2. I feel like such an interesting subject deserves more. His exams were absolutely impossible as well.

Most of your grade in this class is by three tests, and a couple of papers. He is passionate about this so this class would be good if you are a history major. However just for a core requirement it is too difficult

He's a decent teacher, but for a core class it's difficult. Other history teachers allow students to use their notes so try to get those teachers if you can. There's a lot to memorize for test, but if you study enough you can get a decent grade. I've skipped a decent amount of classes and still managed to get good grades in the class.

Professor Suppe is very passionate in what he does. This is a great thing IF you are a history major, but with this being a core class it is ridiculous. The tests are worth almost all of your grade with the exception of a few papers and he expects you to be able to write a paragraph about a person or event including a date and he is a tough grader.

I highly recommend Suppe for History 150. He turns history into one big story, making it easier to remember people and going beyond cut and dry facts. His tests are difficult, but his study sessions are SUPER helpful! Overall, I highly recommend him!
