Comment:
Ms Borland is very hard to please. After getting a C on my first paper because of a very confusing rubric, I asked to meet with her to see what I could do better. The whole time she was incredibly demeaning and rude. As well, her feedback was more critical than constructive.

She is a wonderful professor, but is also a tough grader. She prepares you well for the real world though! If you work hard and ask her what she is specifically looking for you'll do fine! She wants all of her students to succeed and you can tell she has a passion for teaching! Would highly recommend taking her class if you get the chance.

This was a difficult class that you really need to work in. The dress code is strict but she really prepares you for the real world of teaching and as long as you respect her, show up to class and try on the assignments, you will be fine. There is a decent amount of work but it will help prepare you for your career.

While Ms. Borland means well, her class is ridiculous when it comes to grading. Many other students have other professors and get A's but this class does nothing but ruin your GPA. She is a nice lady but is just a little too intense for a 200 level course.

Rude, and unclear rubrics, tough grader. When going to Burris the dress code is vague but she is quick to dock points for arbitrary reasons. Bigger girls beware you are targeted! She calls you out in papers if she thinks you are lying and you have to prove that you really know things. It's deeming. Volunteer hours are awful.

She means well and cares about your academic success, but that doesn't mean that she will go easy on you. Her grading is very strict. Whenever she assigns a paper, she is very vague about what she is looking for. I found that any paper that you write for the 1st time is like a test so you know what she wants the next time you write it.

It's a good and bad thing that Mrs. Borland is SUCH a tough grader. It's good because you are being given constructive criticism with your work so that you can correct it and polish your skills as a future teacher, but your GPA will suffer at the same time. Her grading scale is ridiculous. Along with this, she is very confusing. Avoid taking her.

She is an extremely tough grader and her rubrics are pretty vague. She is very strict on dress code and even if you follow the guidelines you may lose points if she deems it "iffy". She's a good person but not a great teacher and has no compassion if you are confused or miss class for any reason.

She's a good person but as a teacher she isn't the best. If you answer a question wrong she shuts you down and makes you feel stupid. She also is tough on dress code, but that is to be expected when working with students. The portfolio project is extremely confusing and she doesn't offer a lot of help on it.

This was the one class I was looking forward to this semester and now I absolutely hate it and just want for it to be over. EXTREMELY tough grader. She makes horrible comments about previous elementary students and laughs when she talks about students with special needs. DO NOT TAKE HER.

I do NOT recommend her. She's a nice person, but a terrible teacher (ironically who is supposed to encourage other teachers). Her grading scale is ridiculous and she asks WAY too much. She's super strict on dress code, and don't think about missing. I asked her a question once, and she completely didn't answer it. I changed my major because of her.

DO NOT TAKE HER. She's a very tough grader. Her expectations for assignments are very unclear and vague. I missed ONE class for an emergency and when I talked to her about making up what I missed she had a "well too bad" attitude. I thought I was doing the right thing by approaching her with concerns but she was not one bit kind or helpful.

Professor Clevenger (now Borland, she got married) is a fantastic prof. She is a tough grader and will not let your mistakes slip, the grading scale is tougher too. She gives you so much information that you can use in the future though. I would definitely recommend her. Also there's no textbook, which was nice.

Mrs. Clevenger is one of the best professor's I have had at BSU so far. She is the perfect example of what it means to be a good teacher. She truly cares about her students and their success! The assignments are only hard if you procrastinate and don't put any effort into them. She is ALWAYS willing to help! You will do well if you work hard!

Mrs. Clevenger is very passionate about teaching and she is a fantastic teacher. I loved her class. She grades hard because she expects a lot out of you but if you go to class she will give you the things you need to know. Also girls, she will mark you off for cleavage when you visit Burris so plan accordingly!
