Dr Kessler is a great teacher, he knows what he teaches, and his class is quite interesting. HOWEVER, his tests are so damn hard. Midterm doesn't have enough time, and the Final is just crazy, and the average is 32. He curves a little bit, but doesn't mention in his syllabus. And BTW, he is at Penn State right now.

He knows his stuff concerning map projections, but is not very good at communicating it. Taking the course online, all information was conveyed through written means. Documents were like a puzzle; to determine what is actually being discussed required decoding. I was very interested in the topic and things were still very frustrating.

I'll give you the most honest opinion. He IS TOUGH. He WILL help you get through it though. He challenges students to the MAX. His class is not impossible, but if you think you can "float" by, don't even think of taking his classes. He took time, multiple times a week, to work one-on-one with me. Geog 380 is his toughest course!

Dr. Kessler's class was not as bad as what I had originally thought. He is helpful and knows his stuff. His tests are very hard but as long as you ask him for help and take time to do the labs you will be fine.

All classes I've had with him are extremely challening. BUT I learned so mugh from him. Went off to grad school much better than I would've been w/o his classes. Felt I could have walked straight into a job as well.

He is one of the best teachers i've had. Even though the classes are rather difficult, the amount of material i've learned in his class is more than any other class. Also, he is a very nice guy and helps students with a lot of things. I have him as my advisor, and from that experience I see that he is very helpful in pushing for academic success.

It's a lot of work and there are only two tests including the final making it almost impossible to get an A. BUT he really is very intelligent and i learned a lot about world diseases. Nice guy too, willing to help if needed

So so confusing. Try and get a lab section with the professor who teaches the lecture, it'll be a lot less difficult. Quizzes every lab class, never sure what you'll be tested on. :(
