There was only 1 midterm his exams are open everything including internet! Also, the exam questions are straight from the homework and are fairly short, midterm had 3 questions and final had 6. The extra credit is worth 10% of the points out of the entire class so it can bring you up a grade. Also, he's a really nice guy and gave us his # for help

He is so funny and nice! The thing is, his lectures are a bit everywhere. Sometimes he can say one thing but teaches another thing. He's very helpful so ask questions! Tests are from homework and sample finals and midterms!

loved his class! on midterm and final, we can use anything we want, so like laptop, notes, ANYTHING! as long as we don't talk. his tests are tough and don't have a curve, though. but the one extra credit assignment he gives is worth basically half the test so you should definitely do it if you can. there is no textbook cuz he thinks they're stupid.

GIERZ I LOVE YOU YOU BIG LUMP OF GERMAN SWEETNESS! this guy is super chill. He has a great sense of humor and brightens the day. his teaching philosophy is the best: notes and computers on tests! as long as you know it you're good! Take this professor. Warning: you will need a TA to decipher his lectures.

it's very obvious dr gierz is a genius! he really is smart and knows his stuff, but he is very scattered when it comes to lecture notes. very hard to follow and understand. and his hw is hard too. but he tells u the answers during oh so go!! and the final/midterm is js the hw with diff numbers. i would take another class of his class in a heartbeat

Very funny and friendly. He assigns relatively large amounts of homework, but the midterm and final were a few homework problems 100% copy and paste. So as long as you do the homework and get it right, you will do fine.

BEST math professor EVER!! He's super funny and the class is easy!! He takes problems straight from the hw for the midterm and final AND lets you use notes! So if you want an A, do the hw and go to OH for hw help. I only went to TA OH though because for his OH he makes everyone stand in a line and only helps one person at a time. But great prof!!

I had Dr. Gierz for 10B, 171, and 172. With the exception of his lecture notes being a little difficult to follow and frustrating, I have nothing but nice things to say. His lectures are clear, he's SUPER friendly, his office is ALWAYS open to students to ask questions, and he WILL resolve your questions. HIGHLY recommend!

Wow! All his test problems came directly from the homework problems without any changes.I never went to class and got an A by studying his homework problems. He's very easy, very nice, and approachable. Go to his office hours and he'll be happy to help you with homework problems. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. You will enjoy hisclass and of course your grade.
