Overall, a fine teacher. She explains the material clearly and is genuinely interested in having the students do well. She's very nice--I've never seen her get angry at anyone. She's also understanding if you miss a homework or two.

A lot of homework, mostly grammar and reading, but I learned a lot. Gabriela is nice and tries to make sure everyone understands. She even speaks in English during class! Since a language is required for A&S you might as well take it with her. She is understanding about late homework too.

The teachers for sub 300 Spanish classes are all TAs. They're all good (well the ones I've had). Don't blame them if the department sucks or that you hate Spanish. Gabriel is a good teacher and tries to help the slower kids as much as possible.

Comment:
Spanish is not my strong suit, and I don't like Art's requirements. That said, it's not Alvarez made the rules. She is sweet, tried hard to be helpful, and was understanding. If it was another TA, I may have done much worse than the B I pulled out of it.
