This was one of the hardest classes ever. Acton is one of the biggest jerks I've ever taken a class from. Teachers here are usually friendly and great, but Acton was horrible. His instructions were filled with mistakes, yet if we had the tiniest of errors, he'd bleed on your paper. Terrible professor.

I think that Acton gets off on marking papers up and taking as many points as possible off for the smallest things. I was so glad to see this site, I thought it was just me! I had multiple APA papers this semester in other classes, got A's on every one, but Acton gave very low C's.

He provides ample directions to complete assignments (filled with numerous spelling errors), but he takes 10 pages to say what he could say in 2, making it easy to miss crucial details. He can actually be quite humorous, but also cruel at times.

Acton's class wasn't very hard as long as you followed the format he provides but it was soooo boring. Plus, he has a tendency to loose focus on what he is teaching. Once he went on for more than half of the class about a random topic that had nothing to do with the lesson. He was usually willing to help, if you could get past his pompous attitude.

Going to his class every other day was a lesson in pain tolerance. Everyday he puts up examples of papers that he thinks are horrible, with the names still on them, and he goes over how horrible they are without saying exactly how to write a good paper. He labors over format, and could care less about ideas. Be ready for the same monotony on a daily basis. I think I could have probably taught myself his class with examples of bad papers and the text. If you love yourself, take another teacher.

Those statements are true, but he is a great teacher. There is a lot of side work to build up to the final paper, but it is worthwhile. If you are going into a profession that requires the least bit of writing, and are not the best, I recommend Acton.

Acton knows EVERYTHING, and has outlived his usefulness as a Professor. Look forward to the filler phrase "And so on and so forth...like that." to be a main instruction phrase an average of 98 times in a single lecture, in between random events of Acton picking his nose in class (very distracting)
