Comment:

He doesn't use any support material (PPT etc.). Lectures are very info heavy, disorganized, and he speaks fast. Gave us the exam questions a few days in advance for 1 midterm and the final, but not the 2nd midterm - you won't know before he sends them. Exams are very open ended, but unclear grading criteria. Takes forever to grade.

Just write down everything he says and look up later. The tests are very open ended, which I like (makes it feel less like trivia and more showing my knowledge). Sit near the front of the class since he writes on the board.

There is no point attending this class since his teaching was a mess. You can understand nothing in class. But tests are easy to pass since you just need to study for several specific part.

Really easy class, especially if you've done some bio before. You don't have to come to class, you can basically make your own lecture notes by looking into books or internet and following his syllabus. His lectures are not really clear, he's an oldschooler using his notes and the blackboard. He's a nice guy though.

He is great! His lectures are pretty long and heavy on information, but if you know everything from them, you are good for the midterm/exam, which are very fair. He is very accessible after class, if you ever have a question he is always there to help out

Very complicated lectures, it isn't very necessary to go to lectures since you won't understand very much, but it isn't very difficult to get a good grade since he practically gives you the information on the Midterms and Final.

He is a really funny guy but his lectures are indeed too fast. He answers most questions pertaining to the subject but wouldn't go into detail about further subjects because he believes that AEBI120 is a freshman course and teaching advanced materials would confuse students. Some people hate him, others love him.

He teaches using his own notes with little to no structure to his lectures and doesn't even provide any basic outlines of the information coveredthat he expects you to know, which makes exams very difficult to study for. This was an elective course, and I would recommend against taking it.

He teaches too fast and there are so many things we have to learn in one class, so you usually have to go over it and read the textbook after. But he's welcome to answer the questions like"Sorry could repeat that part again?" in the class. The tests are all in short-anwer questions and no multiple choices.

I loved this professor! Dr Dunphy is so helpful, and really gives you a chance to get good grades. This course should be perfect if you pay attention to his class to get a high mark! Make sure to get a recorder to keep in handy

Comment:

Insect biology is a great course for the student that can memorize and regurgitate information. If you can do this you have a guaranteed A. However, this is no bird course. The material is dense and studying it is very tedious.

He's kind of the man. The dude, the legend, everything that can encompass good, this man is. Tests are easy, but fair, if you'll listen to him he gives little side lectures in class that are great. Funny, chews gum, knows your time is better spent getting wasted. If he was still in college he'd probably get all the ladies...and then some.

The prof is knowledgeable and the class is ridiculously easy. Even if you just study the day before, no problem with getting an A. But you'd better jot what he says but not what he writes. The notes he writes on blackboard is often incomplete.

Comment:

Sweetest Prof, really loves what he does. Old school style (copying from the board) He's a fast talker but relies on the class to tell him to slow down. Juggling a courseload of 4 other information intensive Biol courses I didn't think this was an easy class. Exams require minute details and the examples he gives change every year!
