Comment:

Teaches the material very well. Grade consists of 10 quizzes, which he gives out every week. They're 10 MC questions about the chapters so you have to read the textbook. 2 papers and the final is an essay. Participation is 20% of your grade so MAKE SURE YOU PARTICIPATE! I learned that the hard way.

Comment:

Great choice for SO132. There are weekly multiple choice quizzes that you can ace if you skim the reading. Two papers and a final which consists of essay questions. Great teacher who cares about enriching the students' minds. One of the few I can say that I learned a lot from. Definitely take him for an all around great experience.

Nice guy- cares about you, the material, your understanding and participation. Take him for his effort to reach out to every student and distinguished guest speakers he brings to class. Quizzes every week are a cakewalk

I LOVED THIS CLASS. I have never participated in any other class in my life. He makes it so easy and really wants his students opinions on topics. Completely discussion based. "Quizzes" on chapters but its all multiple choice and mostly common sense. His papers are kind of broad but definitely doable. I've never looked forward to a class before.

Every class is discussion based. He gives weekly reading quizzes (10 multiple choice) which are common sense if you skim the reading. He gives two papers which he goes over with you if you are struggling. Easy to approach and great personality.

He's a great guy and his class is genuinely interesting. All classes are just discussions about whatever sociological topic you might be on. However, the weekly quizzes from the book are ridiculous and he is a very tough grader. I thought it would be an easy 4.0 but found out it's not at the end. Still a great teacher though, take him.

Class was pretty good. You won't really learn to much, and what you will learn you'll teach yourself from the book. Quizzes every other class from the text, but not too difficult. Gives us a lot of chances for extra credit. Class discussions are usually interesting just not useful. During class you usually watch a slideshow or a movie of some sort.

Excellent Professor! Very enthusiastic about teacher, makes class really interesting. Quizzes every week, but really easy. Only two papers. A little more challenging than other profs but Id rather have a good prof and have to work than a boring one and not leanr anything!

Great guy, very caring and pleasant. However, he taught mostly from slides when I had him Fall '01. But he was always willing to help you out whenever you needed. Overall, he's a decent professor, not the best, but not the worse either.

Thought he'd be a cool teacher, but his grading was way off. Got in a lot of arguments over what he gave me. Annoyed at people who actually had something meaningful to say - likes to be vague. Quizzes EVERY week, but not too many assignments overall.
