Comment:
Besides caring deeply about his students' intellectual/moral growth, Gary is a 1st-rate professor with an unorthodox style that frustrates those looking to coast vs. raising their (all too) often biased game. Doubters should tackle his much beloved "Myth of Peace Progress" and then reexamine what they think, they thought they knew. - G.Brady

Class was rather boring...professor went off on tangents most of the time...discussions rarely had to do with anything we were reading...After a few weeks, I just stopped going.

Professor Perlstein is a great professor. You might think you're learning information that doesn't pertain to the class but at the end of the term when you have to do all your assignments and final, you'll be so surprised at how much you learned. The books he recommends are so helpful and he's willing to explain the material so you can learn it.

His class was very unstructured for me. There wasn't really a plan on how the term would go. You just go in class and listen to him talk, but not directly about what you're supposed to read for class and write an essay about. Although it was pretty easy,
