Really a great professor. this class made me think about becoming an econ major. The tests are hard but he grades fairly and on a curve.

Prof Smith's class was a hard one, but good one. He makes you work for a good grade. The readings are very good and he uses real life academia examples. He is immensely knowledgable and knows his stuff, but is inaccessible a lot of the times. Lectures can be long. Overall, I had to put in more hours than other classes but I enjoyed the class.

As someone who took AP statistics junior year of high school (got a 5), Gary's class is a nice review for econometrics to come. The homework assignments make you think, but if you have any questions Gary is always willing to meet with you before class (saved my homework grade). Would recommend.

Not the most exciting class, but I think that Smith is interesting. Most classes are discussions on real world examples, which makes the topic more interesting than it otherwise would be.

My favorite Econ class by far. Sorta dry, but what he says and the real-world stories he shares are golden. I was absolutely excited to go to this class, even though for tests you just study off the billions of exams he posts online. I'm telling all my friends to take this class, it's a must! You get so much out if you read the book and listen!

Smith won't care about you; why should he remember your name? He taught over 25 years and the odds are, most of the students in his class are not worth talking to. In any case, if you are interested in a business career, his investments class is a 'must'. of all econ faculty at Pomona he disappointed me the least.

He may seem boring but he is as close as you get to learning investments and finance at Pomona. He is in touch with Wall St. more than Main St. and it seems like that is where his interests lie. If you're thinking of B-school, definitely take his class.

He doesn't care about the students learning at all. He didn't even the student names at the last day of class. Avoid, there are much better econ profs out there.

The class is kind of boring, but Smith is nice and easy to ask questions to. Very mathy.
