Dr. Solar is a great professor. Super interesting and informational lectures/labs and FIELD TRIPS! Explains things extremely well. I have taken a ton of classes with him and also do research with him. Great guy to get to know and work with. Really cares about students success.

He's an amazing professor that is extremely knowledgeable and accessible if you need help! He's willing to go out of his way to help you understand and learn the things you should know a out geology. He expects you to take real life examples and to be able to apply them to geology. He is an awesome professor to have!

Dr. Solar is a great professor. He made me LOVE Geology and everything that comes along with it. I have learned an extensive amount of information in the two semesters I had him. He's a great guy and cares about his students. No other professor could teach this class like he does.

Prof. Solar is a great teacher, he expects a lot from his students and is more than willing to help you understand the material. This class is not an easy A by any stretch of the imagination but is definitely achievable, hard work and late nights are required. (DO YOUR JOURNALS PERIODICALLY NOT IN ONE NIGHT!)

I had Dr Solar for the first time last semester and will have him again for this coming spring and Im actually excited His classes go by fast and you learn A LOT!he is super helpful when ever your confused and totally works along with you. literally has become my favorite professor at buff state. he also has a great sense of humor makin class fun

I jumped right into this without the pre-req and was very scared about the class. it actually wasn't bad as expected. come to class and pay attention and he gives you everything you will need to succeed. I slacked towards end and got the grade I did on my own fault of not handing in a last assignment. if you try you will get an easy A/ B +

Min & Pet is a lot of required work but it is not busy work by any means. It is also not very hard, just time consuming. Overall, great teacher and pretty funny. Make sure you go to class and go on the field trip.

I had him for Min&Pet and Structural, got a B+ in both. Is extremely clear, with to-the-point lectures. He knows what hes doing. write down everything he writes down because the tests consist of everything he will write down on the board. Jsut study your notes. extremely helpful and a nice guy. go to class and take good notes and your sure to pass.

Loves what he does, passionate and patient. He cares about his students and wants nothing more to see them learn and succeed. His classes require you to do a lot of work, but you will take home a lot of valuable information. Gives lots of clear examples and visuals, and is pretty hilarious. Best professor I've ever had!

Good teaching personality and style.. but tests were NOT easy. You have to study, or you will NOT succeed. Often kept class interesting by telling laughably bad jokes. Good, likable guy overall.

Dr. Solar is the best professor I ever had! I graduated from Buff State 5 years ago and still remember everything we learned in Min/Pet and Structural. The field trips we went on made all the difference and I use pictures from those trips in my own classroom. If I didn't have him, I don't think I would appreciate Earth Science as much as I do!

There is a reason he has an excellence in teaching award He definitely deserves it. One of the best professors I've ever had. Has a great passion for teaching. Go on the field trips you wont regret it. He'll sing for you. Tests are hard- its what you get with an upper level course write down everything you know. Dont get him started on NEGeologists

Had him for a summer class. He was excellent. Did not require much work. Did no reading in the text and still got an B+. Tests can be difficult because he rephrases them to see if you have knowledge of the subject. Pay attention and Take notes. YOu will be fine..
