She is so disrespectful and says very rude and offensive things on your papers instead of actual feedback that will help you. I just did not like her or her teaching style, I found her to be conceded.

I have taken three classes with her and honestly she's the best. she just wants you to engage with the material. she will let you re-do any paper and use the best grade as the final one. if you take notes, you'll be fine. she does a few essays but if you have notes, you'll ace it. would recommend.

Would not suggest if you are starting off for intro to literature. Goes against ideas that are not hers. The work wasn't bad, they way she taught and her feedback was not so helpful. Can get off topic and spin it into something different than the text.

Professor Narayan is a great professor. We read about popular romanticism writes & stories. For our essay assignments, she allowed us to come with the topics &/or questions do discuss in our papers. That was definitely different & a plus! She also gave good feedback on her papers and overall brought the best out of her students. Highly recommeded!

Narayan is an interesting professor. If you get on her good side she is a fantastic professor. She really cares about her students and their success which is why at first she may seem tough, but she really does yield great results from her students. She is an excellent teacher and I learned so much from her about writing, and life.

Absolutely lovely person, cannot say enough good things about her. Does everything in her power to ensure her students do well and understand the material. Always friendly and inspiring, and is flexible w deadlines (if you have a valid reason). Genuinely one of the kindest instructors at purch, and well versed in her subject. Take her course!

She's so sweet/ helpful and really wants students to succeed. That said, her class is pretty annoying. She reads line by line, the text aloud. Then says something akin to "what does the second to last line of this page say?" In that way, she sometimes underestimates her students' intelligence. Wish she challenged us more.

Extremely and annoyingly super critical on papers. Marks up papers with useless comments, bashes writing styles but gives no advice to improve. The class is her reading, line for line what she had assigned the day before. She goes on tangents that have little or nothing to do with the material and she clearly has favorites.

Professor Narayan is amazing. She goes extremely in depth with the text and always encourages students to participate. She's also very helpful and allows you to rewrite your papers if you receive a low grade. She is also one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. I had to take my final early and she brought me coffee. Winner.

I absolutely adored her, she was extremely helpful, stoic! (she read through Blake's Milton, line by line to a glazed over class, who were lost in translation, literally)! She was patient and always made you feel like your input was valuable, even if it was not. You should definitely take at least one of her classes!!!!!

so sweet. she's understanding about due dates, and if you give her a good reason, she will read and grade your missing papers at the end of the semester. not very sympathetic about bad excuses, and i've heard some pretty bad ones. participate in class, and you'll be on her nice list.

She is fantastic. The class feels lengthy as we just go over the text that we already read, but she is humorous, helpful, and very engaging. Highly recommended.

She is a great teacher. If you want a good grade, read the material as early as you can, and think up possible topics that you can bring up in class. The class passes by faster if you are actually participating in the discussions, rather than just sitting there and listening. If you have trouble understanding, just ask.

By far one of the best professors at Purchase College. She is always willing to help students, very friendly, and funny. The classes can be tough, because there is often a lot of reading required, but as long as you keep up with the reading, you'll do fine. She has a lot of insight and a passion for teaching. A class with her is well worth it!

One of the most brilliant Professors working at Purchase. Will open your eyes to many different horrifying but important truths about the hardships of India through Indian Literature. The topic sounds boring, but really is very interesting. Extemelly understanding woman, don't be afraid to ask her for help. I would def take a class from her again.
