Intro to linear algebra: awesome, made abstract concepts very accessible. Had very clear explanations for all questions asked, and was very knowledgeable (he is the head of the UCCS math department). Practice tests are very similar to real tests. Definitely attend lectures - very difficult to understand topic using only the book

Dr. Abrams was a great professor for Calc 1. He was approachable, clear, and very knowledgeable. He gives out practice tests that are very similar to the actual tests! Understand the concepts and know how to do the practice tests and you will pass the class!

Dr. Abrams is very straightforward. Do your homework and study the test reviews and you'll get an A! He is a very nice guy and will also help you a lot during office hours if needed,

Nice guy, but is not a good professor in my experience. Doesn't provide a proof of the concepts and rarely shows work behind examples in class, says "Just take my word for it" instead.

Be prepared for a lot of homework, and test/quiz reviews. But the reviews are almost word for word of what the test is only the numbers change.

For individuals who are not so great at calculus, or math in general, Abrams is who you want. He breaks everything into layman's terms, then applies it afterward. He doesn't use powerpoint or the computer for his CALC 1 lecture, he writes everything by hand on the board. You can email him with questions and you'll get an answer quickly. Do the HW.

Very well spoken, but it seemed like his lectures were just really long build ups to the final point made in the last 10 minutes. Nice guy. Gives good test reviews.

Gene gave good lectures and the homework solidified what you learned in class. He made the material understandable so after you took the class you could help others. Test were difficult but fair. If you studied you passed.

I really liked taking calculus 1 with Gene and would recommend him as a professor to anyone. I wouldn't consider him an "easy" professor but if you do the homework and study the practice tests you'll do fine. He LOVES to talk about the theory behind math so be prepared to learn many theoretical concepts.

He obviously really loves math and teaching. He makes practice tests which is already great, but they are true to the test- if you understand them you will get a good grade.

I had taken Calculus before with a different teacher and it made no sense. With Gene it was easy though. He makes it simple to understand. He also doesn't make you do delta epsilon proofs. If you have a chance to take him, I recommend it 100%

Gene is awesome, the material for me was simple as I had taken calculus before, however Gene literally blew my mind at the concepts of calculus. He teaches the theory behind calculus not just showing you a derivative and telling you to evaluate it. He is VERY intuitive and knows what he's doing, also a great lecturer and writes his notes very well.

Gene is a great professor, he's clear in his explanations and he doesn't tell you a bunch of irrelevant stuff. He also makes the material interesting. Number Theory was a challenging but fun class. Study the practice tests and you'll do fine.

Gene taught my calculus 1 class at Colorado College as a visiting professor, and was so great. Teaching on the block plan - especially as a visitor - can be very hit or miss, but he did a perfect job of moving along at a reasonable pace while making sure everything he said was clear. The practice tests etc were super helpful as well!

So glad I took his year long class and not a semester long one. Take very extensive notes and write down everything he does (literally writes every word he says on there haha). Study the practice tests well, go to the orals sessions, MLC, and especially S.I. sessions with Erin (she is soo helpful). Actually learn the homework problems he assigns!

Best math teacher I have ever had in my entire career as a student. He made things very clear to me. He write everything he says verbatim on the board, so make sure you copy down everything he writes, because they are imperative notes to have. Go to the ORALS sessions, they help a lot, review the practice test. He is Great!

He goes slow enough that you can understand the material, but not so slow that it?s boring. He does focus a little more on theory though, which I like since I'm a math major, but some people don't. His tests and review sheets are really straight-forward. I was a little sad he hadn't gotten any hot points yet! I think he's ok for an older guy =)

Nice person, and responsive, but as boring as as can be... Seems to explain theorys more then how to actually do the math. Likes to talk to the board and take shortcuts on what he writes making it difficult to fully understand.
