If you don't like people getting in your personal space, don't take this, he makes me uncomfortable. He is rather subjective in his grading and is looking for a very specific answer. You read a lot, and write a lot of papers. This class is heavily dependent on class participation as well, if you don't talk much in class, you are likely to fail.

Don't. Really up about himself and confrontational. Not open to other viewpoints. If you want a religious viewpoint of philosophy pay for this course, or just go to mass for free.

Be ready to defend yourself in class discussion and should go well. He is very in your face. I sat in the front row and loved it, but it's not for everyone.

It's been about 4 years since I took his class and graduated. This is one of the classes I reflect upon regularly with very few others I took in college. I attribute some of my early career success and attaining highest raises not just to my work ethic but also a huge part in the critical thinking I learned from his class. A+

A lot of people really don't like him, but I think he's an incredible teacher. You'll never meet another person like him, and you'll never be bored in class. He actually challenges your mind and your understanding of things. If you want an easy A then don't take this class, but if you want to learn something, you couldn't go somewhere better.

If you have a tough time making it to class, be ready to change that. There were four grades for the semester midterm, final, average of short papers (like 6 for the semester), and class participation. Got an F for participation for missing too many classes. I love having Fendt as a philosophy professor. He really makes you think. Great class.

It's not an easy class, but as long as you pay attention, you'll be fine. Gives good lectures, and participation is key. If you didn't read what was assigned, he will say something to you in class. Instead of just giving you the answers, he makes you think and find your own conclusions. Don't expect to just cruise though, come with an open mind.

Started with 30, ended with 9. Read your assignments and keep up. If you don't he will know on discussion day and call you out. Forget your opinions and beliefs and come in with an open mind. Put a some effort in your writing and your note taking and you'll do fine. In your face and very blunt so be prepared to defend every answer you give. A+

Dr. Fendt is a very difficult proff. to have. This is the hardest class i have ever had. He is very passionate about his classes (he ate chalk in mine to get his point across). You will hate the papers he makes you do and how he grades. But you become a better student because of this class.

The worst grader ever. Out of 9 different papers I turned in, 4 of them didn't receive a grade and I had to rewrite them.. the other grades i received were 3 C's and 2 A's. And I had one of the better grades in the class! Refuses to accept anyone's opinion but his own, and if you don't agree with him on a subjective subject, you're boned. F

Best professor I've had, ever. (In undergrad or graduate school.) But be warned, the man is SMART and he works hard. He expects the same from his students. Those who claim he's closed minded or abusive most likely just suck at advancing, explaining or defending their own opinions. He won't tolerate that, but you'll thank him for it, one day.

Narrow minded. Creep. Lives a sheltered life. Disrespectful. Full of himself. Insane. Dreaded going to this WORTHLESS class. When you are assigned an "opinion" paper, write it in his opinion. Sign up for another class while you still can.

Although Fendt can be hard to understand at times hes actually quite good. He trys to mess with your head but thats what philosophy is about. If you are truely interested in philosophy try Fendt cause hes fun, and if you "get it" then the rest of the class seems pretty funny.
