He makes very specific instructions for each essay, but when following perfect order on his instructions, he gives bad grades. No matter how much information you put into the essay (including whats asked for), it is not what he wants. The exams are absurd. There are multiple right answers and he expects you to know which one he wants.

This was a semi easy class essays are very hard he wants every little detail in the essays I spent 4 hours on each essay and always got bad grade on them but if u do good on the exams u will get at least a B that is what my final grade was I do recommend him.

I took this class the fall of 2014, and I really enjoyed it! I do agree that he grades harshly on the papers, but if you do well on the exams, you can make an A! This is college, after all. I really liked this class. Another tip would be to get the study guide!

My wife who has her degree in journalism reviewed my essays, because writing is not my strong suit. Mr. Black is very unclear on the how particular he wants you to be in a short two page essay. He is vague and yet picky on essay requirements. He thinks he is a Comp. Instructor. Find a different instructor for this class.

The guy is a great teacher, he helps when you ask for it. He is very approachable, I disagree with the rest. I have learned from him, one needs to spend time on online class, he will even meet with you in person. He is very smart. This is not a elementary school class, I, personally, want all my teachers to be that way. Just apply yourself!

The class was not easy. Hard to get an A considering if you spend 4 hours on your essay or 1 you still get a horrible grade. His reasons made no sense. This man acted like this pol science class was Comp 1 or 2 class how hard he graded on his essay which is unfair. Tests are ok but with his harsh grading one essays ruins it all! Don't take this guy

I disagree w/ 2 prev comments-I liked class, followed directions & did very well. I took 4 wk online-4 Exams & 3 Essays. Fill out wkbook (can use on test)! Essays aren't bad, most info comes from book w/ some internet sites(look in back of bk 4 sites). Use references! I proofed my own essays & did very well on all. There's no EC, but no need 4 it.

I took the internet course, only grades are 4 exams, and 4 essays. Exams are very easy, multiple choice, but man this guy is HARSH on essay grading. If you are not willing to do some serious outside of the text book research and get it reviewed by the tutors at TCC, forget it, he will fail you on every essay, don't even try to BS it.

Mr. Black is a great teacher. He is a little hard, but if you show up to class and pay attention there is no way you can fail this class. Yes, lectures a little boring but if you take good notes you will have all the answers to the test questions. He makes the subject interetsting and thought provoking, I will definately use the info daily.

Very nice instructor, but lectures get a little boring. He works to add extras to make interesting at times. Tests arent too bad, but can be killers. Some of the concepts appear vague, but it may just be the nature of the subeject
