Comment:
Dr. Bousfield is highly knowledgeable, and an amazing teacher. I have learned so much from his lecture alone than from the books or any where else. If you want to acquire knowledge in biology, then he is the best. His test could be challenging but that makes the class more fun, and he curves the test according to the class performing overall.

He is an extremely knowledgeable guy with a pretty dry, but tasteful sense of humor on the subject. Tests are pretty tough and require you to understand the material and probably read the chapters. I enjoyed his lectures.

Dr. Bousfield was a great teacher. The tests were really hard, even if you studied extensively, but he curves every exam. He was hilarious in a SUPER dry way that reminded me of my dad and I thought it was adorable. My best advice is to study what he says in class too (not just the book and slides). He is obsessed with figure skating. It's cute.

Dr. Bousfield isn't the most interesting professor, but he really knows his stuff and as long as you pay attention in class and read the book you'll do fine.

good person but horrible professor. His study guides are 100 questions but none are on the test and doesn't give answers to the study guides. Only grade are tests. His lecture is all over the place and goes back on subject so you never know the actual material. Book is not required but it helps to understand the subject. Do not take him if possible

Dr. Bousefield is a difficult professor, but not impossible. His class has left me extremely frustrated at some points during this semester, because his tests are very difficult (class average has been around a 52). He says test info can be found on his powerpoints but make sure to read the book! Don't take his class if you aren't willing to work.

Bousfield is an arrogant and disrespectful person, so I HIGHLY recommend to not have him as your professor. He'll just deceive you if you go to him for help, and Im saying this out of personal experience. The story is that I went to him for help, and he just told me to piss off. And I believe that he has something against South Asians.

I didn't find him boring, but I can see how others would since he's monotone. He uses powerpoints, which are posted online. This class is not easy, you have to read and understand the material. There's a LOT of information. If you have questions just ask, he will help. He gives study guides early if a student asks. Don't skip!

His powerpoints were disorganized at best. He's pretty boring because his voice is monotone and quiet. Not a good teacher. Take Schneegurt if you want to LEARN the material easily & get an A. Take Bousfield if you're a masochist. His lectures spent a lot of time on things that weren't on the test like a YouTube lecture on new microscopy techniques.

I enjoyed learning from him except for a few reasons. He did not make his study guides available online, instead you had to attend every lecture and hope you didn't miss the handout. The tests are very detailed and require you to basically memorize the study guides. Otherwise if you had the study guide and you review the lectures you are set.

Bousfield really knows biology well but he is not a good professor to take General Bio from. He simply reads powerpoints that are pretty vague, and doesn't even lecture over all the material he puts on his tests. Maybe for biochemists he would be a good lecturer but for general introductory bio he is a little too advanced and expects too much.

The class grade is based on only test grades. The tests use material from the book, powerpoints, and study guide so make sure to read everything. Unfortunately, during lectures he speaks as if you know what he's talking about. Also, test curving is now gone. This was decided right after the last day to drop the class, so I feel like I got conned.

Slackers will not do well in this class. This clas is VERY interesting. 99% of the class is female. The text book is ocnfusing. I couldn't get past the first chapter. The class takes A LOT of studying if you want a good grade. He gives you a study guide before each text, but MAKE SURE to review the powerpoints as well.

Professor Bousfield is not the best teacher out there, but he isn't impossible. The class overall was ok. He gave you notes, but they were pretty much useless. Just read the book (focus on the cycles, processes, graphs... etc.).

Dr. Bousfield is very approachable if you have any questions, no matter how dumb they may seem. Yes, his lectures are very dull but if you make yourself interested the lecture becomes less boring. His tests are fairly easy. He provides a study guide. His class is difficult because he lectures as though he's speaking to grad students or colleagues.

Dr. Bousfield: If you're reading this, can you please try to teach yourself how to "dumb down"? Pretend you're talking to a 20-yr old, not your colleague. I got an A in your course, however, I had to teach myself. You're Hebrew-spoken lectures were no good. I was able to laugh at your jokes 3 days later once translation was achieved.

My class was unique in that Bousfield only taught the second half of the semester. He is soft spoken so sit up front or you will miss a lot. I found him boring despite intrest in the subject. Make sure you study the notes and look over the text or you won't do well.

A lot of people say that this guy is too hard and suck but the topic of biology in college is DIFFICULT. If you expect to review high school bio here then think again. He tests exactly over the notes. Work hard, study, and occasionally talk to him to show that you care about your grade and you are guaranteed at least an A or B.

Tests are VERY hard. A lot of the material on the test is not covered in the lecture but is in the text book. He does grade on a curve, but the class average on all the tests is around a D.
