I got an "A" in this art history 04 (the one that ends with 20th century art) and didn't go to class 1/2 the time. If you just do your work and make him laugh, i think you will be fine! ALSO an extra credit paper or 2 will help. I only did one.

There's only two assignments for this course: a 3000-word essay and a 3500-word take-home final. Both are due at the end of the semester, and he won't accept early assignments (so you don't know where you stand until its too late). He also doesn't announce the final's topics until the last week of class. Grading-wise, I believe I deserved an A.

Prof. Cohen is an incredibly intelligent man who has dedicated his life to art history. That being said he is pushing 80 and is completely oblivious as to how to teach a class of young adults. His final exam was written in typewriter and his classes consist of lectures and slides taken during the early sixties. He's nice, but you will learn NOTHING

Gave me an A- and I went to EVERY CLASS, when NO ONE SHOWED UP, my friend got an A and missed at least 5 classes, I also did an extra credit. Wrote a great paper and take home final.. as the above said, grades are out of nowhere.. Senile is right.

He is a crazy old man, which made class somewhat fun. He goes off on tangents a lot. It can be a hard class, but if you show up to class and do the work you will be fine. I highly recommend that you do as many extra credits as possible. They help your grade and they are easy. I did seven extra credits and got an A in the class.

OMG!!! hardest class ever!! i couldve paid 4K and went to stony brook for a class that was graded soley on tests and not participation!! do every extra credit he gives, i wish i would have. corny jokes, early class, boring lectures, and way too much info to retain until 2 mths later. STAY AWAY!

If you want to learn more about art def take a course with him. He is amusing and he knows his stuff (some of the books used are ones he wrote) There is only a midterm, term paper, and final. You just have to study for 5 topics out of 24 to do good on the exams.

The class is really really boring. About half of the class is asleep. He expects you to write way too much for his paper and midterm. The final is 5 questions about of a possible 24. You have to memorize 24 time periods and all that goes with it, its not worth it, take something else.
