Nice teacher. Doesn't do technology very well. Big on diagramming sentences and reading. If you write your rough drafts and do the revisions he suggests, along with studying for the quizzes, you will get a decent grade.

Dr. Hickenlooper was the most caring, interesting professor I had at LU. He was competent, fair, & often hilarious. I learned more in his classes than in any other writing or history course. He gave detailed feedback & usually provided opportunities for revisions. I'm still in contact with him years after college. I adore that man.

Class is very hard and Professor Hickenlooper does not help. I tried emailing him many times and did not receive an email back until the semester was over. Would not take another class with him.

Hick is a great professor who knows pretty much everything, probably one of the most intelligent people I've ever met. That being said, his classes can be pretty dry since his mind operates on another level, but study and do your work and an A is definitely manageable. Word of warning: don't argue with him, you will never win. Ever.

Took a creative writing course with him. Attempted to critique our stories without even having read them. This makes him somewhat hard to take seriously, but he is nice if nothing else.

Knows drama like no other. Interesting class. Gets you involved in discussions. Shows movies a lot. Only drawback is that he only gives a grade on term papers and absolutely no comments and doesn't explain when you ask him about it, so it's up to you to figure out what is wrong.

Worst professor I've had I think...but I'm sure he is quite knowledgable. That simply isn't enough to be an effective teacher. Unless, you are a writing major (as I unfortunately was) avoid his classes...

Agree that he is probably the best teacher at Lindenwood. Also agree that he is brilliant. Though he may be an old man walking around with a can and a tub file he is an extremely interesting man. Very smart, he inspired me to want to become a better student.

Re: Film & Lit class taken for J-Term '04. Everyday we watched a movie and read a book about literature and film techniques. He is very educated and can tell you what you want and need to know, but understanding him is sometimes very difficult.

This man is as brilliant as they come. He is fluently multilingual, a published writer, an award-winning playwright, and an all around interesting guy. Don't let appearances deceive you; he's a whip!
