Dr. Whaley is experienced and knowledgeable with regard to the topic of organizational behavior. Although I came from a science background, it was easy to understand the materials that he presented. Guest speakers provided were both interesting and helpful in terms of networking. He is a tough grader, but fair as well. Would definitely recommend.

He is one of the most experienced and helpful professors at SJSU. He has some solid contacts with people in a variety of fields, and is always willing to help you and put you in touch with the right people. I have a science background, but his teaching style suited me perfectly. He is very clear and took us to the basics for our understanding. BEST

Horrible Teacher. Great topic. It had such potential. You have to take him, but you will dread every single second. Good luck setting your margins to 1" when his ruler some how likes 3/4".

Professor Whaley is a very tough teacher. He packs WAY too much work into a standard class timeframe. Although most of the info is interesting, much is outdated. In addition, Whaley spends way way way too much time having students set their margins to his liking and should focus more on content!!!

Prof. Whaley is known to be an extremely hard grader and has high expectation from the students but he is energetic and very informative. He covers a lot of material and it is overwhelming at times. Yet looking back, I think I learned the most from this class in my MBA.

This prof makes you work very hard for your grade. But he is fair. You can raise your grade significantly, with the extra credit options available. He teaches very well, goes the extra mile for his students and has super high energy levels for his age.

Professor Whaley is the worst professor I've ever had in both undergrad and graduate, totally incomprehensible, ridiculously hard grader, poor lecturer, and the world's worst PPT creator. I honestly think SJSU MBA program hurts their reputation by involving him. He is that bad. I've never gotten lower than an A- in college, until him and got a C!

Fast, "real world", business contacts, heavy on text/speakers/assumptions, slight curve w/extra credit (take it) doesn't tell you everything, ask LOTS of questions and document! Use email. Witnessed outbursts when he was wrong, unclear expectations, forgetfulness of previous discussions, disregarding instructions just before tests.

Prof. Whaley is an energetic and approcheable teacher, but a very hard grader. Even if you study for days for a test, do not expect to get higher than a B. In fact, the class average for one of our tests was well below a C! He curves slightly. If you take him, good luck!

Compensation is not my strength but Whaley teaches well for an incredibly difficult subject. Talk to him during his office hours to clarify your confusion on the material. He has a huge network of HR professionals that I'm lucky to get my hands on. I got my next job because of Whaley. Happy Retirement Professor Whaley!

This is by far the worst HR teacher. I've known many students who have dropped their HR major because of him. Assignments in class are unclear and likes to pick on students. Heavily believes in feedback loops. To this day, I still don't understand his tests. Pay attention to guest speakers or you're SOL

Worst Professor ever (Sadistic). The lowest grades on our 2 midterm exams were 60% and 56%, respectively, absurd for Graduate School! Rules are clearly defined by him, then changed without notice on his whim. He is intentionally unclear and works hard to confuse you. I strongly suggest you avoid him at all costs.

This professor is sadistic. Information only provided after it was too late to be useful. He subjectively reduces your grade on exams and case studies by 10%. We then had to work feverishly to work extra credit projects to make up for his grading system. You will only take this professor if you are stupid or...stupid.

Very unclear but really friendly. Tries to make it interesting! Notes are vague & will test you on (inane) details not discussed but buried in book(s). Make SURE you buy optional book!! Only savior is xtra credit! Have him clarify EVERYTHING! FYI: test Qs/case studies used over & over so ask to see ideal sample paper & watch 1" margins!!

As long as you do the work for the class, you will pass and get a good grade. Also, he doesn't explain in details so it's helpful if you go to his office hours or ask him on your own. He keeps his lectures interesting and interactive. Overall he is an ok teacher...As long as you read and do the work, you'll be fine.

This is the most confusing professor you can ever meet. Highly un-organized, very confusing, nit-picking professor who takes his class no-where and makes an easier subject harder to learn. Avoid him if you can. If you do not have choice but to take this professor's class, be ready to slog for a B or C. Not a friendly professor.
