He is a very grumpy professor and has absolutely no leeway for his students when it comes to taking tests. he doesn't seem to care very much about his students.

Class grade based off of 4 multiple choice exams. Pretty straightforward. No need to go to class to do good. Would take again.

From the very beginning, he is straightforward that our grade is determined by 4 exams and 4 exams only, 50 questions each. 8 questions are posted at the end of ppt slides, but only shown in class so work with the rest of your class to get them so you don't have to show up to class. I always skipped. He's a grumpy guy though, not very approachable.

Comment:
George's lectures are boring. I dunno if they have anything to do with the exams and his voice is monotone. I stopped going to class in February lol. There's a lecture everyday and he gives you 8 questions that will be on the exam. He cancels class a lot. Make a class Google doc or Quizlet is your best friend. Grade is based off of 4 exams, no EC

This class is the regular lecture class. All his lectures and powerpoints are the answers to the exam. He gives eight questions at the end of every lecture. He has been teaching biology 101 for many years now and he always does the same thing every year. So just show up, give respect also to him coming to give a lecture.

Comment:
Most difficult class I've ever taken. The lectures are so boring and each lecture has 10-13 topic questions that are on the tests but none of them are addressed in the lectures he just goes off on a tangent. 7 chapter tests, 70 topic questions, have to memorize all because he picks around 25. Very nice and friendly, just not a very good teacher.

Attendance is mandatory bc you need the questions at the end of the class for the exams. He is smart and knows a lot about the subject. Not very interesting, but the exams aren't too hard if you take notes- not just what the slides are but also what he says.

He is very scattered minded, he will go off on tangents in the middle of class. Also, the lectures are very boring, especially with his monotone voice.

Your entire grade is based off of four exams. He provides questions to the exam at the end of each lecture, but some of them are very ambiguous or grammatically incorrect. The lectures itself are very dry, and he isn't very helpful if you go in for office hours. If you prefer a more independent learning style, then I suggest you take this course.

Comment:
He is fussy about small details that have nothing to do with the class, such as people filling out extra information on Scantrons. The material itself is not hard. However, the questions he gives us for his lectures (which are later on the tests) are often incomplete, grammatically incorrect, poorly written, and difficult to understand.

Gives eight questions at each end of lecture. All exam questions are the same. It would be easier if you have a friend so you only do half of the work. The problem is finding the right answer that's all. Listening is alright unless you want a perfect score.

Gives lectures and questions to the test are at the end, if you know the questions you can find the answers in his powerpoints, which he posts online the night before he actually gives the lecture. His lectures are a little dry, but he knows what he is talking about. 4 tests, non-cumulative make up your grade. no extra credit, but tests are easy.

Huge info dump during lecture. Just reads off the slides which are available on Laulima. Weekly graded homework on MasteringBiology, takes at least an hour and super hard.

Long lectures. Enthusiastic about plants but gives out tedious info. No study guide. Assignments can be between 40-60 parts each. Provides clearer answers if questions are asked. Introduces several unfamiliar terminology, so reading the book is a must (and corresponding lab)! Nice guy. But its information overload!

Such a nice guy, but his lectures are so boring. The class is easy enough if you get the questions at the end of lecture, because those questions will be on the exams. If other people in the class start emailing the questions to the class, you don't even need to show up at all. Easy class, just boring.

he's a funny guy, very sweet and innocent. But his lectures are so boring and he moves through the material way too fast. And his study guides are horrible, way too detailed.

Terrible. Felt unapproachable to several in the class, when he was asked questions gave curt and useless answers. Took forever to assign the last couple of papers and gave students an insane workload for the last couple weeks. Took this for Gen Ed, I think I should have just taken biology.

No book! Everything is in his powerpoints. There are 8 questions at the end of each lecture & that's where he gets his exam questions. So, go to class & you'll get an A. He puts the powerpoints online prior to class, BUT the 8 questions are NOT on there; he will only show them in class. Also, no homework!
