challenging; logical; "in-your-face" style; wants you to learn; if you see him, he will help, but it is YOUR responsibility to see him. Once I did, things improved enormously; tough grader, but graded on improvement. (I did poorly on the first exam, but I learned how to write. I ended up with an A. If you want a REAL college class, take this one.

He's only teaching 1 more semester, but was probably one of the worse professors I've had. You either hate or love him and either understand what he's teaching or you don't. There are 3 grades in the class (all essay exams). If you're looking for an honors course, choose something else. You will ruin your GPA and you'll be confused doing it.

not recommended for cowards or wimps. if you do not want to learn do not take either, he is what a professor should be, and cares not about your grade but your mind. That said, he is one of those professors you remember forever because of the way he made you learn not study

Get's a bad rap, but a great professor. Sarcastic, clear. Loves those who can spit it back. A no nonsense professor, but if you even go to ofice hours 1 or 2x, you will make his "I know you" list, and he becomes a nicer prof. Got an A, but the first two tests got D and C. BL: he gives you a chance, and he cares alot, but low BS tolerance.

Plays favorites to the extreme & to those he does not like, your life will be hell. Very knowledgable, but at times, unhelpful & discouraging.

Miller is very intelligent. That being said, i do not enjoy his teaching style which is too fast paced and he chooses one person each day to lecture to, and ask all the questions to, with no help from peers. Tests are impossible, he gives only essay tests. Learned a lot, but I would not have taken this class again. Dont take it. Got a B+ though

Jerry is a character.. his personality is in-your-face, but if you don't take anything personally, you should be fine. GO TO CLASS. READ the chapter BEFORE class... you will find it to be an easy ride. A's are possible. On the other hand Jerry seems to have no problem failing students who don't try.

I took his ECO 201 over the summer, and had a love-hate relationship with Jerry. Definitely knows his stuff like the back of his hand, but his "in your face" teaching style goes a long way to A) scare shy students and B) play favorites. Sometimes the "discussions" he has with other students make it hard to actually absorb material.

Best prof I've ever had. Extremely knowledgable, interesting, and well-versed in teaching. Tests are tricky, but you will be fine if you take detailed notes and attend every class.

Don't be fooled by the first test. Material increases in difficulty as the semester continues. His lectures do not prepare well for quizzes and Tests. Go see him in office hours or prepare for troubles.

Although he can be a nice guy and knows his stuff, he is not a teacher you should take if you are not "economically" minded. If you like econ in the past or have previous classes in econ then he is the teacher for you. If you need help, just go into his office hours - and more than likely you will.

I thought as a person, he was a really nice, funny guy. As a teacher...he played favorites. He only really like the annoying and obnoxious know-it-all type kids. If you qualify as one of these people, then you might do well...but if not, I don't recommend the class.

Did not like this class. Miller is a good professor and definitely knows his stuff, but the class is very difficult. He is very funny, but basically yells at you and treats you like an idiot if you ask a question or don't know an answer. Come to class prepared, always puts you on the spot.

In my years at Miami, this was the only class I ever got up for at 9 am regularly. And I stayed awake the entire time too. He MAKES everyone participate, but he teaches so well. He is also smart enough to know it is better to take a break and keep your attention than to have you fall asleep half-way through class. Awesome guy, best Miami Prof!
