Stubbs is a great lecturer (be prepared for the accent). However, he tests literally any detail from his lectures and slides, so I would recommend recording the lectures. Study the lectures and slides thoroughly and you will be fine.

Definitely one of the best lecturers I have ever had. Very organized and clear lecture, outlines and slides are helpful. You don't even need to buy the book as 90% tests were from his lecture, 10% from slides. He focuses on every single details so recording the lecture can be very helpful!

Prof. Stubbs is fantastic. He keeps lectures interesting and engaging. You definitely need to be in class to get the extensive notes for the test material but I never found it to be a problem wanting to go. He is super helpful when you go to office hours or extra help sessions. Great professor, we love Stubbs :)

Even though his posted lecture notes are good, attending class is a must because he's a humorous and clear lecturer. Extremely helpful during help sessions. His tests are challenging, but doable as long as you have everything memorized. Excellent professor.

Extremely engaging and willing to help. His tests are challenging but you'll be fine as long as you memorize the notes you take in lecture. If you are struggling, go to his review sessions for extra help-- he is always happy to explain until you understand.

Fantastic communicator - has an engaging lecture voice, responds to emails within ten minutes, and genuinely seems to enjoy talking with students. Lecture outlines contain everything one needs to know for exams - learn the details carefully. Print out these outlines and write down stuff he says in class - use book only for pictures.

Details, he loves details. Angstrom measurements, amino acid pKas, everything. Not an entirely difficult class if you are good at memorization. Tests are pretty challenging but he definitely prepares you well for them. He is an excellent lecturer and highlights all key points that are necessary to do well on exams.

All lecture material online, but worth attending class anyways. Exams almost exclusively based on the lecture; not easy but not terribly difficult. Get ready for some heavy memorization. Enjoyable professor- seems to care about students and subject.

Best biology professor. Hands down. He really cares about his students. Go to his office hours. He's incredibly nice. His tests are not at all difficult. If you put in the time to completely understand the lecture material, then you will be guaranteed an A-don't waste your time studying the book. He's always smiling and extremely prepared for class

Great teacher who is very passionate about what he teaches. He holds study sessions that I never went to but once that are helpful if you need it. He really cares about the students and his tests aren't that hard if you only read and study his online lecture notes. I never used the book because he just does a better job covering only whats tested

Stubbs is a good man, except that he emphasizes all the minor points of biology, often ignoring the key concepts. The tests are pure memorization. I spent hours copying words over and over and structures until I had carpal tunnel. :) The best way to study is using mnemonics and linking structures and concepts. He is always in a good mood!

Ok, yes he is very hard, but not as hard as Singleton! So that being said, study like hell and ace his part so you can have a buffer for Singleton. Just memorize EVERYTHING on Stubbs's lecture notes and you should be about 10-20 pts above the average. I think the class was scaled like 10 pts. Ridiculous final.

I loved biology until I took this class. His tests are ridiculously hard. Other sections let you drop tests, he doesn't. You have to memorize at least 30 structures, which is pointless. He's a nice, funny guy, but i highly recommend you do not take this section.

Biggest mistake of my undergrad career. Take this class anywhere else or w/ any other professor. He is not just hard, but since this class I have taken Genetics and Biochemistry and he goes into as much detail as both combined, which is completely unnecessary for an intro bio class.

He is hard, but he gives you outlines. Study those and you will do well on his tests. Other than that he is very clear and easy to understand, the material is dense but its the basis of all the bio courses afterwards.
