I learned a lot in Professor Koot's class. His exams were easy so were his assignments, that is if you do the reading. If you don't do the assigned readings, I don't see how you could pass the class.

I have loved British history sense I was a child, even though I am not a history major I took this class. Despite my love of history this class was ridiculous. the work load is not bad, weekly web postings, a mid term, a final and a 2500 word paper. However Koot is not a very fair grader, I think he has some unrealistic expectations of students.

OK so everybody needs to stop ****ing about this guy. He is a good teacher but he is very boring. If you just go to class and just sit it out you will do fine. A dinosaur that needs to retire. He is an ok teacher, but as department chair, he is terrible. I don’t think he even looks at the class evals b/c he has hired/kept on some horrible professors since I started. Koot, if you read this: get some decent people before I graduate, people who actually live their field and know how to teach.

Koot is a very tough Professor but a very fair one. If you don't want to work hard, don't go to college! He is rather soft spoken and hard to hear sometimes, but he very nice and his class was very interesting. The work was worth what I got out of it.

I really enjoyed this class. I can see why some people think he is boaring but He i a fair grader and he knows his stuff. If you do the posts and the required reading you ill do well. hE lets you use notes for exams and give you good analisys of your writting assignments. I would take again.

I am a history major and this guy killed my love of it. his test are essays but he lets you use your notes for them. he will bore you to death in his classes, asll her does is talk in a low slow voice the whole time. i advise you not tot ake this class unless you need it. HEED MY WORD! this guy sucks

He is a good guy to get from answers from and at times he can be entertaining. Watch out though, because he wants people to drop the class so thinkgs will be tough at first. Definately recommend and be aware he says really strange things that are funny but you will miss them if you dont pay attention

If you want to do well in Koot's courses, esp. the seminar be prepared to commit yourself to the class! He really doesn't tolerate slackers but if you ask for help and do decent work it is not too hard to get at least a B+.

Lectures are winding, informational but hard to follow. He tests on the readings, which are boring and hard. His grading system has never been used by Earth before- he grades on what he thinks you know, not your work. Very nice guy one on one, his classes are too much effort for no pay out.
