Comment:

Worst class I ever took. Mocked students, and several people came out of lectures or tests crying. The oral tests are bizarre- its not a phonetics test, and the material involved diagrams. You have to sit in his office alone and describe stuff that could be drawn. Uncomfortable and discouraging, even if you love the subject.

Don't take this class. Well it's all your choice, 90% of your grade is exams. 10% Spanish lab. He does give out packet that is like replica of Spanish lab, but it's pointless. Exams are multiple choice, but doesn't matter. All you do in the class is random HW and go over it. Nothing else, wish I would have switched the first week. It's exhausting.

This guy has a very thick accent that can sometimes be difficult to understand, and his humor is, while funny, dry and very ill-timed and frequently demeaning. He's difficult to ask questions and he clearly doesn't like teaching and hated half the curriculum of the class... didn't mean he didn't test us on it. He rambles unintelligibly ALL THE TIME

he is a terrible teacher- he does not know how to teach at all. He will try to make jokes but it is honestly super annoying and rude. He WILL discourage you if you are not doing good in that class ( C or below) and he will tell you that you are in danger of failing the course. He does NOT offer extra credit nor does he upload your grades into BB

Three oral exams. You have to go to his office to take them face to face. Want to pass? -Go to class. -Write down the examples he gives; he WILL use them on the oral exams. -Understand things conceptually, and know the names for the concepts; see the end of the chapters in the book for the terminology and brief explanations. Help? Google.

Vague and somewhat confusing. You can take the three tests (only three grades) and pass the course by keeping up with the reading. You will want to run out after 15 minutes of class. He's a good guy, just none of this material stuck. Spent too much time trying to pass the test and learn what I didn't learn from his boring lectures.

I have no idea how I passed this class. In class, He reads whatever handout he gives you or rambles forever. He used 75% of the book material on the test and the questions were vague with alot of "a and b" or "all of the above". I wouldn't mind him if he hadn't sent a failure alert to the entire class in order to boost attendance. Skip him please!!

His class is virtually do it yourself he''ll assigned homework on material that hasn''t been introduced yet and then use the next class to go over it to teach it. His class was really easy; our only grade was on 3 papers, and he gave blanket A's. However, he's extremely condescending and doesn't respect opinions that differ from his own. He doesn't seem to care about teaching at all, and his lectures are boring and confusing. Take Ling classes with someone else - everyone else in the department is awesome.

Has weird sense of humor, but nice person, just not as professor. Spends classes reading handouts, not lecturing, and rambling. Not clear at all in explanations--even harder to understand with his accent. Grade solely based on 3 multiple choice tests. What a guy. Hilarious if his humor isn't directed at you- don't be late, read before class, do NOT ask questions that can be answered using the textbook. Tests are based on what he says in class- he doesn't agree with a lot of material in the book so you can't rely on solely textbook studying. If you're self-teaching inclined you'll be better off.

I dropped the class because it was not working for me. He would go over hw all class which was so boring. He wouldn't correct anyone's pronunciation. He didn't know vosotros form at all so he couldn't teach it. And he refused to use the internet to email or anything. He deducted points if you emailed him! Ridiculous!
