Comment:

She's a sweet lady, but her teaching style is very dull and confusing. We don't have any tests, just assignments and discussion posts which are easy but tedious. She takes a very long time to update grades and her grading system is a little strange. Overall, not an extremely hard professor just very boring and teaches a lot of her own opinion.

She is a very sweet lady however her teaching style is not great. Many people did not show up to her class and it was quite sad. All of the class had a hard time focusing because of how dull she was and she does not teach different religions, just Christianity. I had a hard time focusing in this class.

Dr. Ahlgren was one of the best professors I had at Xavier. She is very passionate and well versed in her subject and its material. She try's to make theology something exiting and meaningful to each of her students.

She talks a lot of non sense which makes class boring. There is a LOT of reading and when she trys to go over it in class, often I didn't understand what her main point was. She's nice but I wouldn't take her again. She also grades hard.

I went to Italy on a study abroad trip with her. One of the best classes I have ever taken. She is always willing to help and is the most understanding teacher I have ever met. Read the assignments and take time writing the essays and you will receive a good grade.

Dr. Ahlgren is wonderful--very spiritual, inspiring, and helpful. She will help you with any assignment, and even offers extra credit opportunities. She encourages you to delve into the subject and really think critically. A few papers, but not as many as other professors and doesn't grade as hard as other professors. Definitely worth your time.

Comment:

A lot of papers to write, a lot of reading to get done, easy to fall behind. But she is unbelievably helpful and gives a number of extra credit opportunities to make up for things you may have struggled on. It becomes more than just a class and a grade if you show interest and participate in things she offers.

ahlgren is a nice lady and gets very into the material. shes fun too-for example, it is not unusual for her to sit indian style on a table during the middle of a lecture. her paper topics are somewhat obscure and it's not always clear what she is looking for, but she is a great lecturer and encourages thoughtful class discussion. highly recommended

Not a difficult grader, but not reading can get you in trouble when it comes time for class discussion. She uses a lot of unnecessarily scholarly language and can be very difficult to follow at times. But a great person and passionate about her subject.

This class is full of pointless papers and reading. She spends WAY too much time on things that do not even relate to theology at all. In class she lets the class lead the teachings which makes it difficult to understand what is important and what is not. It is A LOT OF READING. I REPEAT A LOT OF READING.

I had Dr. Ahlgren over the intersession in 2004. I had no idea what Christian Mysticism was when I entered her class, however she is very open, honest, and intelligent. I'd take her classes over and over if I could. I got 94's on all assignments. She will always go out of her way to help students.

This class sucks...Don't take it. She's hard for no reason...it's a theology course. supposed to be easy. she is unnecessarily tough, and not very flexible. only allows 1 absence!!!
