Amazing teacher but her only essay brings your grade way down. She grades you as if you are an English major when all of us in her class were anything but. I had an A the entire class until the last week of school because of the grade. Loved her, but I have never received anything under a 87 for a paper until I had her.

Dr. Peterman is very smart. She wants all of her students to learn and succeed, but she will not just let you breeze through her class. I would take another class with her IF she showed a little enthusiasm. The tests are pretty simple. Read, do well on the group project and TAKE YOUR TIME on the research paper and you should do well in her class.

Workload during semester is not bad, just read all the required readings in time. DONT PROCRASTINATE THE RESEARCH PAPER! She grades it very strictly: follow the rubric closely cause she wont explain it in class. Take good notes on her lectures(names/dates/events/definitions/lit devices) since it will be on the midterm&final. Participate in class.

Peterman was a fair grader. Tests were on the fine points of grammar, but it was all covered in class ad nauseum. Clear expectations set.

Don't take! Her test are hard ! She make you do a 7 page paper and grades it like your an english major . She doesn't even explain the paper. She go over history .which this is American lit not World History . Don't take peterman unless you want to fail her class day one !

I attended all but 2 classes, read all reading assignments, and participated in class, but still got a D. For her tests you have to know what she thinks the authors meant, random historic dates(which annoyed me because eng. isnt hist.), and every author and book title. she also goes by the thought "the way to tell the truth, is through fiction"

Yes, she'll rip your paper to shreds, but that's because it probably needs to be fixed. She explains her content well and is a wonderfully helpful if you take the time to talk to her. She's a college professor through and through, not a high school teacher.

She will RIP your paper to pieces! On the pop quizzes, you have to know how to interpret the literature the way she would interpret it. Not a professor I would recommend!

Fantastic prof. If you want someone to spoon feed you information, drop the class and get out of college. If you want a prof. who knows her stuff, cares about her students and will help you if you put forth the effort, enjoy the class =)

Dr. Peterman rips research papers to shreds as far as grading goes. Constant pop quizzes on material you weren't asked to read. Vague, extremely difficult tests. ONE paper, worth 35% of your final grade, is assigned in this class... so, you'd better either get it right the first time or drop this class. I'd go for the latter.

Dr. Peterman is a very difficult teacher, but she knows what she is talking about! I haven't exactly done a great job in her class but I can only blame myself, she teaches pretty thoroughly! The paper is hard, and she expects a LOT, but as long as you put forth the effort she is more than willing to help in any way she can! Overall -- good class!!!

I dont know what all the concern was about? I am a guy that procrastinated, not a teacher pet, didnt read half of the readings and still made a B+. She was not what she was supposed to live up to being a hard teacher.

Peterman was horrible. I failed my first three papers in her class and had to drop. I'm a junior now and have made A's and B's in every English class since her...in fact one of the papers I wrote for her got me an A when I retook 101 no changes necessary. She plays favorites that much was obvious

Dr. Peterman did everything in her power to help me this semester. If you email her or go to her office she will sit with you until you understand whatever it is you are confused about. She was very helpful. Her tests were extremely hard for me, there was one 7 page research paper, but it wasnt hard. I recommend her over the other 204 teachers.

NOT BAD @ all contrary to what others said...gives quizzes every class almost but read and you will get 100s. Lectures are pretty interesting. Midterm wasn't too bad either. Pretty nice lady, but wants the world to know she has a phD. I would definitely recommend her over Hannemann.

She is the most monotone, boring english teacher at this school...she gives a ton of online busy work to her 101 classes and has some truly ridiculous requirements for her research papers...shes nice i suppose but she just has no energy and kind of just brings you down as soon as you get around her...hard to get excited about anything she says...

I found her to be a very good teacher and the class wasnt that difficult. She requires atleast some people in her class to particpate and will get mad if no one does. As long as you have a few people in there willing to participate she should be no problem. Alot of people say she hates guys too...this didnt seem to be true.
