Super interesting class. Professor Husting is really excited about the material and that is shown throughout her lectures. However, she is very scattered and doesn't update blackboard so you have no idea what you got on your final papers. Would recommend this class but get ready to read.

Dr. Husting is an awesome professor. Her Environmental Sociology class is one of my favorite classes I have taken at Boise State. Attendance isn't mandatory but you better show up to understand the material. Very complex topics but very interesting at the same time and makes you think a lot about your own life. Lots of essays but aren't too bad.

Passionate about what she teaches which makes for GREAT in-depth class discussions. There are few assignments & tests are difficult. BIG FRUSTRATION is that she doesn't update grades throughout semester or reply to emails. She never posted grades to blackboard and instead submitted our final letter grade to the school without giving feedback.

Ginna has so much knowledge to share with students and she really wants us to understand the content. She loves the subject and her aim is to help everyone, but if you aren't paying attention you will get left in the dust. She feeds off students that actually get the readings done, and she is constantly bouncing from one thing to the next. Spotty.

Although she is very nice and passionate about what she teaches, she is very scattered throughout the semester. Her tests are t/f, multiple choice, and ESSAY questions (which are worth the most points). The essay questions are graded very harshly. You will not know where you stand grade wise at ALL through the semester. Do not expect to get an A.

Have sent her a few emails, all of which she ignored even though she is the only person who could possibly help me with these questions - and emailing her recommended by multiple professors and other students. Unhelpful.

The first week of school, I was rather excited for this class. Prof. Husting came to class prepared and very inspiring. After that first week, things went downhill... fast. We received assigned seats. Very scattered lectures, impossible to follow. Impossible reading load. Didn't review required readings Tests sucked. Overall didn't like the teacher

This professor was extremely unclear with what she expected and how to do our semester project. A lot of reading was assigned but we rarely discussed it. The lectures were hard to follow and I often became confused what we were even talking about and what topics we were supposed to be learning during a given week. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Dr. Husting is brilliant! She has so much knowledge and does a great job explaining the content and creating interest in gender issues. This class is very challenging, but if you keep an open line of communication with her or her TA's you can be successful and learn more than you would've ever imagined!

Super interesting class, learned a ton of stuff. MUST read ALL of the material (but it's all relevant and interesting). Very intelligent teacher - very friendly, but scatter-brained about responding/grading. Still use the reading items for other classes- good foundational info on theory I hadn't had before. Take it if you actually want to learn!

A bit scattered with assignments and returning them with feedback, making it difficult to know what she was looking for. The class felt like my first REAL university class. Lots of loaded discussion on interesting topics. The assigned reading material was actually VERY interesting, I still use it for other classes. Just put in effort!!

never returns emails! is completely scatterbrained and has no idea what she has assigned or what you have turned in or have to turn in...the syllabus is completely useless by the end of the first week of class. has more non-required reading that required reading and then tests on the non-required texts. makes up her tests minutes before they are ha

Her bark is worse than her bite. She'll scare you with the difficulty of her tests, but if you actually attend classes and do a moderate amount of preparation, her class is very doable. She also clearly has an interest in the subject. Sometimes she's a bit all over the place and can be a bit dull during lectures, she is overall a good teacher.

I have had her for Soc 301 and a special topics soc 497 course (sociology of consumerism). She is perhaps my favorite BSU prof. She is sometimes scattershot and random but open to any idea, completely understanding, bendable on due dates under certain circumstances, and hates to have textbooks that cost an arm and a leg. AMAZING

Professor Husting was quite possibly my favorite professor to date. She was always engaged with her class and was open to any topic. If I ever needed help, I could come to her with no problem. She was quick to getting back at E-Mails. Only thing I would knock her on would be her tone. She needed to speak up. Other than that, LOVED IT!

Very easy class if you study the textbook very carefully as the tests often have very specific questions. She is enthusiastic and loves the subject. Study that textbook hard (and any videos or movies she shows) and you will get an A.

Very hard! Doesn't coordinate lecture with readings. Does NOT give a study guide at all. TAs held a study session once the whole semester only one day and at only one time. Tests were extremely hard and tons and tons of reading. I do not recommend her at all!
