Not recommended. Don't bother going to office hours, he won't help you and will only insult you. Unless you have an IQ of 500+, you won't understand much of his lectures. We, the students, are at sea level but he teaches at sky level. Take pchem at another school if you can.

He has been teaching for about 50 years and needs to retire already. I got nothing out of his class and he did not know how to teach! Exams were so difficult that only a handful did well and the averages were always about 40 percent, yet no curve. Homework was insanely long and only counted for 10 percent. I think he just wanted everyone to flunk

Brilliant prof, one of the best I've taken. Tries to keep students engaged and always manages to bring our energy back up, his jokes are hilarious. Pchem is hard as hell, but study the old exams and understand the hw and you'll be fine.

Physical chemistry is a difficult course but Prof. Evans makes it worth it. He goes fast and sometimes talks above you, but he is an amazing teacher. Really cares about his students and is really fair about grading. Study his old exams and you will easily get a B or an A.

This class is hilarious. Dr. Evans is one of the smartest professors at OSU. He can seem unapproachable, but he really enjoys helping students. Go to his office hours and get to know him! Pchem is extremely difficult but it's interesting and fun at the same time.

PChem is not an easy subject, so many people are going to be upset with Dr. Evans just based on this fact. Dr. Evans goes fast during lectures because there is a lot of material, but if you complete the homework and THOROUGHLY work through and review the concepts in the practice exams he provides, it is very possible to get an A in this course.

This guy is simply a brilliant and highly entertaining teacher. The material is challenging and he doesn't give away easy points. i.e., you actually have to do the requisite number of hours work to pass the class. He is 100% honest about this. If you work at it, you'll get more out of this class with a B than a 100 easy A classes.

he's not a good educator. his lectures were graduate-level, and he assumed we knew a lot about Pchem already. he's also an emeritus professor, which means he should definitely not be teaching anymore but i guess he got bored being retired? sadly, nobody else has taught this course or 442 at OSU for like 15 years so we're pretty much screwed

He is incredibly smart and talks at a level that is above most students understanding. With that being said, he is very funny and helpful if you use his office hours. Pay close attention to his practice exams as his current exams are just modifications of the old ones. Nice guy, slightly intimidating, but tests were definitely fair. Huge curve :)

I had to work my ass off to get a C-...and I'm mostly an A student. I feel as if he lectured more to show off his knowledge rather than to teach. Exams were too long, too hard, and the test book is terrible. If you go into his office hours he's helpful...but you have to ask the right questions. It would be nice if lectures were more helpful.

He is very articulate and incredibly intelligent. He is funny. However he speaks at a level above most student's understanding and he can be hard to follow sometimes. His tests are hard but his curve makes up for it. Curve took my grade from a B- to an A.

I just finished the sequence of PChem 440-442. I'm not going to tell a story of how hard it is or how easy it is. This class is very trying, comparable to Biochem 490-492. The way I got A's in this class was to rewrite what I thought was important in the chapters... Then memorize it. Go over homework problems, but most importantly STUDY the tests!

Don't believe what everyone else says. Evans is completely awesome. He knows his subject very well and realizes that it is difficult. Exams are only hard if you don't study correctly for them! Read the damn book and definitely go over past exams, homework, etc. Getting an A isn't especially difficult for this class if you devote the time for it.

His exams are WAY too hard. The averages were down in the 40% range usually, yet he doesn't curve very much. Homework is worth way too few points for the time you have to put into it. As far as his teaching, he's nothing great. Mad scientist. Pchem is easy for him, that's his job, but he needs to realize that you can't learn it all in 10 weeks!

The material is EXTREMLY COMPLEX! Class is on a major curve, first 1/4 after extra credit (~8% of grade) an A was still at like 75% and above! Study old exams and GO to review, class and book moderatly worthless, office hours are a must. Some people find it easy to get a good grade with little effort others are screwed!

Maybe good in upper division classes, but doesn't like freshman! Probably a genius, but is lacking in social skills. Needs to grow his hair out, so people will know that he is a mad scientist. Made some disturbing scenes in class...worst prof in 22X serie
