Great professor, very passionate, double check the spelling of things because he isn't a stellar speller but obviously very knowledgable about the topic otherwise. You have to go to class to watch his lectures (his input is important) but they're interesting. Bad at outside class communication but if you pester him enough it's fine.

Super easy class. Homework was minimal and very easy. The whole class was just lectures so it wasn't that entertaining unless you're really interested in the subject. But he was nice and it was an easy class to take. He was really on top of putting all grades on canvas and had some extra credit.

He's a bit eccentric and definitely has an interesting personality. I wouldn't say everyone will love him, but you won't dislike him and he's BY FAR the best photography teacher at Cabrillo, if not a little ranty. First few weeks will be camera basics, but if you're not familiar with darkroom processes don't miss class after maybe week 3 or 4

Great teacher, has so much to offer! It'd be a mistake to NOT take a class with him. Be prepared to spend at least a few extra hours in the lab.

Awesome teacher. Gordon works best as a teacher when his students are curious and engaged in the material. He is a well of knowledge, I'm so thankful that he was my introduction to black & white photo and I'm thankful that I took the time to ask questions and say "how can I improve this image." Also took medlarge format with him and it was amazing

He seemed to be a very understanding teacher at the beginning. But by the end of the semester, he hated being in the class, wasn't willing to help, and gave me a 89.9995 overall, refused to give me an A-. I work full time and he told me I should've shown up for more out of class labs. I went to all that I could. Don't take if you're a busy student.

Gordon is SO full of himself--and intolerant of others. It's his way or the highway. I really wanted to learn photography, but I surely didn't in this class.

Gordon is great! I absolutely love him. He keeps classes fun even lecture days are filled with laughs. Though sometimes he does ramble on, it only bother me when we don't finish our class critiques. He's a great guy with a heart. If your sick just send an email & you're set. If you're interested in taking Art Photography Gordon's your man!

Gordon is awesome. If you're kind of a nerd, like me, you'll love this guy. He is an extremely sharp man, and he knows his subject to a truly masterful degree. I really enjoyed his class, but the workload is pretty demanding. You will have a successful semester of photography if you take his class.

Hammer is generally a great teacher. While he does ramble on tangents sometimes, he knows what he's doing and teaches it well, though long- winded. He is somewhat critical, but only in a useful way, and is exceptionally understanding. Photo 9a with him was demanding, but fun, and not overly difficult. A very useful class, though expensive supplies.

This was my first photo class and it was so useful. He would critique you and give you his opinion but in the end it was up to you. He was very fair with grading in my opinion. Also he let us be creative, for a few projects I looked outside the box and I thought I was going to get down graded but he said they made the pictures more interesting=)

I took the B&W photography. Gordon is the best photography teacher you could hope to have. He has a lot of experience in and out of the darkroom. He is also very cool and extremely helpful. He also taught at the Academy of Art college in San Francisco.

Gorden is one of my favorite teachers ever. His classes are difficult, but his students learn a lot. He has a brillient sence of hummer, is a great artist, and cares about his students. Ask lots of questions! I'm so sad he is going away for a year. I'm going to miss him

Comment:
Gordon is shockingly kind, extraordinarily funny, uniformly helpful, scrupulously fair, and inordinately devoted to his subject. If you take photography, wait until he gets back from sabbatical and take it with him; he makes his subject more vibrant than all other aspects of life combined and is well worth the wait.
