Perhaps could have been a 25 if I could understand a word out of his mouth. He is from drug country (and you will hear about it) and made me question my faith in computer scientists from that area. Stay away from this heroin mule.

I feel bad for the guy because no one really listens to him. He means well though, and his tests are really easy. You have to actually read the book, and somewhat pay attention to the videos.

Paulo Franca is from South America; that's where his accent comes from. Class was extremely boring but it was pretty easy. You must show up 80 percent of the time in order not to take the final. BTW he's not funny AT ALL! His jokes are lame. He tries to be cool to his students but fails to do so. I got a B+ in the class. 20% get A's and 40% B's!

it's kind of hard to understand him. i can officially say that i have learned close to nothing in this class. it's all basic things that everyone should already know (i.e. microsoft word, emailing). the term paper was ridiculous because you don't know what you did wrong or how you got that grade. the limited amount of As he gives out is ridiculous.

First off, his CMPS 2 class was ridiculously easy. Hardly studied for his class, spent 20-30 minutes max on homework, if there was any. But Paulo Franca is really not a good teacher. He's not very enthusiastic, and he has the worst grading system ever. He only gives As to the top 10% of the class, which is total bogus for those who work hard.

Franca is a great teacher who knows a lot about his subject. I learned a lot about the interior of computers and their functions. The tests were a little off topic and you really have to pay attention to the book and the lectures, but overall he was funny, helpful, and I had a lot of fun in his class!

Probably one of the nicest teachers I have ever encountered. However, I dropped this class due to the insanity of the homework quizzes. (I can't even imagine what the midterms and final looked like) The questions were "lost in translation" so to speak. Good luck to those who take it.

He is very nice and doesn't make anyone feel stupid for not getting something. Lectures were often quite boring, but are usually helpful. Definitely take P/NP though because of his crazy grading curve (I got a 90% in the class but still got a B). Not too much reading and overall fairly easy. Labs are really helpful for making you understand better

Really easy class, take it Pass/Fail though because only 12% gets A's, although it might not be too hard tog et an A. Labs are 2x a week, but usually work is done in 35 mins. Do well, and you dont' have to take the final. You can only miss 4 labs, and 2 labs scores are automatically dropped. Nice, with entertaining accent, but easy to understand.

He's an average teacher at first. After awhile, he would make mistakes...lots & gives too many metaphors & too many "blahblah..o, and btw, don't do this! its wrong." MOST IMPORTANTLY, english is his 2nd language, and his online quizzes are worded "oddly" so you end up getting it incorrect anyway because u didn't understand what he was asking for.

This class is about C++ programming which means those of you who know how to use it, then you guys will be in great shape. Otherwise, you might have hard time to do the lab. I guess my judgement is a little biased since it was an 8am class. Regardless I think the biggest I had with Franca was the fact that he was a lazy programmer and every other lab would have a serious glitch in it giving students and the TAs a big headache. He tries to be tricky on exams with wording but instead questions seem ambiguous.

I never took notes or bought the book and pulled an A. I spent maybe fifteen minutes on the big project too. Go to the labs and you'll pass easily. Franca himself is a terrible teacher - most of the time we just watched outdated computer-related videos from the 90s. Doesn't explain anything ever. Avoid this class unless you need the GE or GPA boost
