Koestler is great! He really cares about his students and gives awesome (and hilarious) feedback. He does not use Canvas or post grades, so keep all the papers and handouts you get in class! Also, there is a huge group project, so choose a good group! Love Koestler though, he remembers students and loves to chat with past pupils.

3 essays (which include various rough drafts), 1 major project/presentation which is worth a lot, and a seminar every Friday. Very kind, humorous, and loves to give feedback! But, I did dislike that throughout the entire quarter I was unaware of what my grade was and to top it all off he doesn't tell you what it is. Overall, I do recommend him.

Koestler was really relaxed and easygoing. Writing papers were important, and your group project was worth a lot. But he is quite understanding if you have difficulties, (like not being able to print something) and so long as you talk to him about it beforehand, he'll work with you. All things considered, I think Koestler is a great instructor

Koestler is my favorite prof at YVCC easily. So funny, kind, down to earth, and really cares about you as a student and person. Gives amazing help and feedback on papers, and is always willing to help. He is a professor that makes you a better person by taking his class, and if you work hard and do your best you will get that A. STRONGLY RECOMMEND!

Mr. Koestler is the man! He's the type of English teacher that will improve your writing. He gives great feedback on your essays and takes the time to do it! Your grade is weighed HEAVILY on the group project, so make sure you choose a good quality group. Spend time on your essays and the grade will show.

An amazing professor. He teaches very well. The homework isn't too hard, just a bit time consuming. For ENGL101 you will spend a lot of time getting ready for weekly seminars, and writing multiple drafts for one essay. That one essay is the only one you have to write the whole semester. Really opened my eyes about the worlds' culture.

Mr. Koester is a great English Professor! He keeps his teaching relevant and realistic. You will learn more from his class than just writing. The class is homework heavy, but what English class isn't? 3 rules to follow in his class: Show up to class, Don't talk when Mr. Koester is talking, and do your Homework. Too easy! Strongly recommend!

One of the best English teachers I have ever had. Really cares about your work and will listen and give really good feedback for your papers, feedback that i could actually use to help understand stuff myself and help others understand in my paper. Highly recommend for others.

Koestler is a wonderful teacher, and it is obvious that he cares about his students. The work load is rather tedious, but it is totally worth and you learn a lot about yourself. I don't look at things the same after taking his class.

I must say Mr. Koestler isn't by far one of the best professor I've had so far. Though his assignments are tough and end up writing two novels by the end of his class; you will walk out of his class knowing you have learned something. Personal Mr. Koestler has inspired my life and has helped to be a better human being.

He's sassy as hell, and is funny for the most part. He didn't really teach us English, but assigned a ton of work. All of his assignments are very tedious, and he is a hard grader. If you don't like opinions shoved down your throat then you won't like him. Very straight forward guy.

He knows what he wants and as long as you stay on top of things, it goes well. But this isn't as much as an introductory English class as it is a life lesson or Sociology class. Be warned if you have certain political views.

Easy professor to get along with. There is a lot of writing but as long as you don't mind a few late nights I highly recommend him. In two years at YVCC he is still my favorite professor.
