Comment:
Dr. Neavill is a wealth of knowledge especially when it comes to cataloging however, as an online professor he is not effective. I sent numerous emails asking for assistant with either no response or 'this is new information for many, you will begin to understand it soon.' Little to no feedback on assignments.

Comment:
His online class is a waste of time. He doesn't answer email or phone calls. He provides no feedback on assignments. It seems he gives an arbitrary grade but I have no idea because he never bothered to respond to my questions. I received an A- in has class but don't understand what, if anything, that I missed. Avoid if possible.

Neavill is a wealth of cataloging knowledge, but his teaching methods have not adapted well to the online platform. Class is conducted like a study hall with little interaction between instructor & other students. Final grades are weighed on 2 open-book exams and 1 essay question, so room for error is minimal. Overall, challenging and uninspired.

Gordon is a good professor who is passionate about this topic and this class is very interesting. I took it online and it was the right combination of difficulty/informative. I definitely recommend it as an elective.

A very interesting class that covered a lot of history. I learned a lot in this class but I feel he wanted more of a level of expertise in his students. Lectures were interesting with lots of visual aides and slides during the lectures.

Comment:
Dr. Neavill is talented in his field however, I think he needs to understand that not everyone of his students are ready to "fly into cataloging" at the first class session. I dropped his class and went with another instructor. He needs to work on his lecturing as well. Good lectures but please speak up or show a little enthusiasm.

In addition to being an accomplished scholar and a gifted, caring educator, Dr. N brings to this seminar course abundant humor, graciousness, empathy, and a fine sense of how to coordinate a seminar without dominating it. His contributions are always helpful and clarifying. I can't recommend him and this course strongly enough.

Comment:
The exams are challenging as is keeping alert in class. He could use some work on his lecturing style. However, he made his lecture notes available online which are invaluable for studying. All the assignments have direct impact on the exams and also were useful for studying. Studying for the exams is a must, but with work a good grade is possible.

Dr. N is great. The class is super hard, and the subject matter isn't that interesting, but he makes it enjoyable. Be prepared to study a lot! Challenging tests, but he always prepared us for them. I learned tons! Dr. N is the best prof I have had in the LISP program!
