Comment:
The course material gets really dry the way he teaches it. Seems like you could just read the book and the outline to study. Adds a lot of information that you don't really need to know, and so, confuses what's needed for tests -- so know everything. This course should be 2 hours, not 3.

I'm actually kind of enjoying the course material, although it's true it's hard to stay awake. I like Frame so far, he's given me lots of advice on future endeavours in this area. If we didn't memorize events, places, and names, why bother studying ancient civ at all?

Great scholar, but TAs are hard essay markers. Loves to talk about his course.

G. Frame is enthusiastic and organized. A treat after Shubert. Teaches on a simpler level for a year1 class, unlike Shubert, which makes it more interesting. Mesopotamian section good, Egypt section bad.

Some reviewers of the 101 class are complaining that it's too hard or too dry, or too much memorization. Duh - welcome to the study of ancient civilizations at the university level! Frame is a brilliant academic and very helpful.

Suicide would be preferable to his lectures. They are disorganized and the emphasis on memorization of names, dates, and places is ridiculous.

oh my god, sooooo boring. his lectures were very disorganized, and many students had no clue what was going on. he jumped from subject to subject way too quickly. hard to follow.

Prof Frame was clear and easy to understand in the Mesopotamia section of HUM101. Overall, I found HUM101 a waste of time, especially since it was an elective.

Prof. Frame is a good guy. He can actually read Akkadian cuneiform, and did so in class - I was amazed. Be warned, the material is a little dry, but anyone who likes ancient Mesopotamia should find it interesting.
