Comment:
The course package can sometimes be confusing, you have to read it over and over again to get the point. He motivates students by "intimidation." He intimidates you not because he doesn't want you do well in the course, but to make sure that you learn the material well.

He wrote his own book so uses it in the course. Lectures are all about himself and his work experience. He jumps around a lot and is not very clear where in the course we are. If you ask him questions he makes you feel like an idiot and just tells you that you have not read the notes properly. Very unhelpful and I would definitely not recommend him

His notes are well prepared. Though the guy jumps around in between topics and never give you a clear picture of where you are and how the topics fit in the subject. Not very respectful to students. Also talks about himself and HSBC all the time.

Difficult subject but Grant does as good a job as any to keep students engaged in the topic. There are a lot of concepts to teach and the subject is dry. Grant is very responsive to email and will always answer your questions.

Grant does an excellent job with providing notes and practice questions that follow logic needed to be done in the exam. He tells you what will be on the exam, or the kinds of questions that will be on it, but basically know how to calculate net income for tax purposes the addback and the deductions, as well as further deductions for taxable

Difficult teacher and difficult exam. But Grant really tries to teach you something. Not just memorization but also application of what he covered in class. So if you get an A in this class, you have learn something about income tax. After finishing this course and went to on professional designation then you will realize this is very useful course

Everyone hated this class while students with the other prof raved about it. In the end the class averages were quite similar. I recommend the other prof (Chung). Did not enjoy the class. My lowest mark in the DAP program.

He is evil... He always says he won't give marks out for nothing, you have to earn it... and back it up with all that 'how hard he work to his position'... FuXk him! His exam is so long that I left the whole question blank in both midterm and final! and I failed by a few marks coz of that. I aced the other professor in the same course later.

Grant want his students to do well in his class, but he won't make it a breeze. He wants his students to actually learn the material for themselves and apply it to different situations that he creates in exam situations. If you work hard, learn to apply versus purely memorize, you can do well. He even uses questions directly from hw on the exam.

He should not be teaching, he'll be late for class cause of meetings at work. Knows how to write a killer exam, really boring lectures, and he does try to trick you, really hard course, hes an easy marker tho. It's impossible to fail but also to get an A.

Definately hard class. He makes hard material harder as he seems more interested in tricking students on exams. In class one day he remarked that he never had it easy so he wouldn't make it easy for us... the fact that he said that alone speaks for itself

I don't think the subject is that hard. I believe everyone thinks it's hard due to his ineffective method of teaching. Notes are not clear and sometimes confusing. Examples in class are only for reference only, they aren't really useful toward mid-term/final exam.

Grant works full-time at HSBC during the day and his job at HSBC is obviously his first priority. His notes are pretty confusing because most of it is unclear. Also, he cannot pronounce the word "schedule". To do well in this course, you MUST read the Byrd and Chen book and MEMORIZE details like a madman.

Exams are nothing like the practice, Although he quotes that he used the "same logic" on the practice. Isn't it all exam use the same logic as notes?? Hard to prepare for exams.
