truly an amazing professor. I never felt afraid of failure in her class, because she embraced it as part of the process of artistic growth. She is supportive, and understanding. Her teaching really helped me understand the human form.

Gwen is a very nice woman, but she is so vague. She doesn't explain assignments well. Even when you think you're doing what she wants, it isn't. Her favorite painter is Morandi, and that kind of explains everything about her. Even if you put tons of time into your work, she will still like someone else's who spent maybe an hour on theirs.

I love love love Gwen, she's like a mom. BEST professor ever. Her crits are concise yet honest in a kind way. She will let you know when something is not working but does so in a way that makes you still feel confidant. She wants you to succeed and is there to help you do so. If you have gwen, you're a lucky duck!

Gwen was the greatest teacher I have had in my freshman year. Her understanding of art is so keen, and her aesthetic choices or understanding varies widely from classical artist to post modern painters such as Frank Auerbach. She pushes you hard but is understanding of each individual student's artistic pace. She truly is wonderful!!

I had Gwen for fall foundations and then drawing marathon. She's as demanding as the most rigorous teachers in the school, but is very humble, open and fluid in her critiques and guidance. Genuine interest is rewarded, and there's a motherly support of what's important for you personally. She's one of the best professors in the whole school.

Gwen takes pride in assigning the most hw (quantity over quality for her) My drawing improved simply because there was so much! Large drawings, which isn't a bad thing, but she doesn't care about the process or how much time you spent on it (a lot!) She plays favorites horribly (luckily we got along ok) Limited view, Giacometti & only charcoal! Bad

Gwen assigns BIG drawings that take a lot of time, so don't save them until the last minute or you will be pulling all nighters. She gives great feedback but shows a little bit of favoritism in critiques. She's nice and I learned a lot in her class.

taught me more about drawing in a semester than i thought possible. teaches drawing in a variety of methods, got me out of my comfort zone and into HUGE drawings. always stays positive and can help anyone with any skill level. very insightful and "motherly".

I found Gwen to be esay-going and enthusiastic. I was never too stressed out in her class, but she has a thing for impossibly complex and giant still lifes, and impossibly large drawings. Fun, filthy and exhausting days! She definately has a visable preference for a certain 'style', but is no tyrant. She's a sweetie.

she is no help at all, treats students towards personal feelings, most times easy going, but once you "earn" your hate, YOU WONT SURVIVE...she tend to disregard the process, and only likes the quality of the final piece, which for some people suck because drawing with charcoal is just not their thing. 50:50 chance of ending up liking, or hating her
