Comment:

Do not take this class if you don't know any Spanish. I spent a lot of time in lab barely any hw but half of her lecture was in Spanish and if you had a question you were only allowed to ask in Spanish. Professor Yount is funny but her personality can sometimes be sarcastic and rude.

I loved Professor Yount. She is so funny and she genuinely seems to care about her students. She may seem like she's tough on students, but it's because she cares and wants to see them succeed. She was wonderful!

Comment:

Professor Yount is a great professor, especially because she does anything she can to make sure you get a higher grade. However, it took me a while to get used to her. Her sense of humor is a bit harsh to the point where I was considering dropping the class, but aside from that she teaches well, not excessive hw, but many lab hours.

Comment:

Professor Yount is a great teacher and I would recommend her. However, she is not for everyone. Her sense of humor can be offensive and I know that was an issue for some of the students. This was the most time consuming and challenging class that I have taken in the time that I have attended RCC. Be ready to spend TONS of time in the language lab.

Comment:

Really cares about the students and wants to make sure everyone passes but you have to be willing to work. Makes class fun by cracking jokes etc. so its not hard to pay attention. Would definitely take again.

Professor Yount is by far the best professor I have ever had. She really cares about her students and goes the extra mile to show it. She makes sure everyone in the class is comfortable and has a very clear curriculum so you know exactly what you should be doing at all times. If I could have her as a professor for all of my classes I would.

Comment:

Professor Yount is an amazing teacher! Lectures are very well prepared, and she knows how to make the class laugh! Remember to bring your class materials every day, and dont forget to do the discussion posts! Mandatory attendance, and lots of chances to receive extra points. She is here for her students, not for herself.

Stay past the first day! If you make it to week two, or even day two, I promise it will be worth it! She's strong, and direct.. but that's the way its easiest for some of us. She truly does care for you as a person and as a student. She does care if you need help, just ask. She is always willing to offer a hand.

Professor Yount is the BEST professor I have ever taken. She cares about all her students & she wants the best for them. She goes out of her way to help. First day of class I was intimidated by her but honestly she is so caring , hilarious, & very inspiring. She's awesome! There's no reason you shouldn't get an A or B. If you don't you're just lazy

I had a low C for most of the semester but got a B by the end. Here's what I recommend. 1. Read each chapter thoroughly before going to the labs. 2. Spend as much time in the lab as possible since the quizzes are identical to the labs. 3. She offers extra credit for going to each class DO IT IF YOU CAN. IT raised me from a 76 to a B. Seek help

Professor Yount is one of the best professors I've had throughout my college career. She cares deeply about her students and will go the extra mile for students who do the reading, participate in class, and put in the effort. Attendance is mandatory, but her lectures are by no means boring. I would take any class taught by her in a heartbeat!

Yount is the best teacher I've had in my college career! She really loves her job and does it well. She's hilarious in class and makes Spanish fun! Although without participation in lab and attendance you will not pass! She gives a lot of work but makes it easy to pass as long as you stay on track! Definitely recommend taking her above anyone else

Honestly THE best Spanish 1 professor you'll get. She doesn't just lecture and have you memorize things, she makes sure you know it and that you will remember it. She's a tough cookie, but she is extra nice. There is so much opportunity for e.c. there's no reason for a grade below a C. She's also very approachable, funny, and stylish. It's an easy A

Show up everyday do the reading and you will be fine. Please for the love of all things dandy just do the homework and reading ON TIME. Her tests are SO easy and she is so lenient as long as you do things ON TIME. PARTICIPATE and sit up to the front she does notice and helps people who care and ask questions.

I recommend professor Yount. Her class was always highly enjoyable. She teaches and explains very well. She will promptly reply to emails and offers extra credit. If you don't receive an A in her class clearly you weren't trying for that grade. Everything is in the syllabus and as long as you do your homework & labs you will pass the class. Try!!

She was awesome! Really funny, I laughed every class session. She grades really nicely, making the class more about learning than stressing about grades. All in all, best teacher I've had by far!

She was fun, but I did not like that I could not ask questions in english. I can read and write fluently but have a lot of trouble speaking. And her participation grading isn't fair, I got an 'F' in participation even though I always volunteered (I just couldn't ask many questions). I had all A's and B's, and that dropped me to a C (and my gpa too)

Gwen is a great professor she does make you work for that A but if you put the effort you can achieve it. Bring your thing to class and stay on top of things and you will succeed. She gets frustrated when students do not come prepared to class.
